AIB £200 Switch & Stay Offer (NI Only) 6/10/25-TBC

I think I will have no choice but to wait to open regular saver now as switch will have gone through at this rate before I get the code. You need to open the regular saver within 30 days of opening the current account. Within 30 days of opening the regular saver you need to deposit £100 into it. You don't need to wait for the switch to complete, though you can if you want to.
So you could open the current account, 30 days later cycle through your £1,500 and open the regular saver, then 30 days later deposit your £100 into it. The entire process for the 2 payments needs to be done within 60 days of you opening the current account.
I'm ready and waiting to do £1500 to current account and £100 to saver (once it's opened) asap but good to know there's that margin.0 -
Fingers crossed we get our codes tomorrow Aidan, have always been set up with other banks before the switch. No AIB card reader for me yet but always use danske Id thing for that account.Good stuff! Thought my registration code would have arrived today, but just a letter from AIB confirming switch, which is tomorrow.
Haven't received any card reader but probably won't need it anyway.1 -
Just had the following email

I'm not sure they're even sending out the card readers to everyone. When calling to get my Personal Access Code (PAC) the lady asked if I would like one sent out. When I told her I was already sent one she seemed surprised. If you have the app you don't need it.Belfast1979 said:Fingers crossed we get our codes tomorrow Aidan, have always been set up with other banks before the switch. That's odd, I haven't received any emails from them. My activation code letter has 17th October on it and arrived today so 6 days. I opened the account on the 14th October. So if you're on the same timescale as I am, you should be receiving your activation code tomorrow.Just had the following email

Haven't received that email yet Aidan and my docusign was signed on 15th October too so would assume we are on same timescale. I hope as Danny said we should both get activation code tomorrow.
Did you phone online banking support (03457930000) to get the PAC Danny?0 -
Yes, that's the one. Also, I think they can give you your registration code over the phone along with the PAC.Belfast1979 said:Did you phone online banking support (03457930000) to get the PAC Danny?
I was offered that and declined as I had already received the registration code in the post. I read out my registration code to her and it was the same as the one she offered to give me over the phone.1 -
Thanks Danny, that's great. If my registration code doesn't arrive tomorrow I will have to phone them, not much point having a switched account with no access 😂
It's reassuring that the contact centre staff are helpful (I'm picky about that as I worked for another bank 20 years ago) and that the details matched what you had already received.0 -
I forgot to add earlier on that I got an email to the email address my old bank have for me (on Monday past) from DVLA about my car tax and I had to update DVLA with my new details by phone.
I have a screenshot from my old banks DD list just incase AIB query it.
The DVLA direct debit has disappeared from my DD list with my old bank today but the other DD's are still showing so find that odd in one way but reassuring in another 😂0 -
I was really impressed with the customer service. The customer service I've received from the Irish banks is completely different than I've experienced with the British banks.Belfast1979 said:It's reassuring that the contact centre staff are helpful (I'm picky about that as I worked for another bank 20 years ago) and that the details matched what you had already received.
Their customer service seems to be based in the South. All the pre-recorded messages had southern accents and the customer service agent had a southern accent. As soon as the pre-recorded messages ended, I was attended to. No wait time, no dreadful muzak, no inane "we are extremely busy, please hold the line, your call is extremely important to us" drivel. She was really helpful and took time to go through everything with me in a totally non-patronising way.
The account opening process is a bit long winded, the app is very basic, but the customer service was excellent.1 -
This is all normal. Your direct debits and standing orders all get moved over to the new account during the switching process. It doesn't all just happen on your switch completion date.Belfast1979 said:I forgot to add earlier on that I got an email to the email address my old bank have for me (on Monday past) from DVLA about my car tax and I had to update DVLA with my new details by phone.

If your car tax is paid by direct debit, then that will update automatically with DVLA. They may email you to let you know that your direct debit details have changed, but the payment will come out as normal from the new account.0
