Revolut insisting i get my passport renewed

Been using Revolut for just under a year or so now, I get on well with it and like their generous daily interest on my savings.
However, suddenly got a email and app messages saying i need to re-submit my ID documents for "regulatory requirements"
I thought no bother, got my valid photo card driving license handy.
However for GB citizens the only tick box option is passport.
My passport expired over a month ago and they won't accept any other form of ID
I wasted some time arguing with a chat help bot and it said i had to get my passport renewed.
This im sure, is trying to apply a one size fits all policy.
There is no legal requirement to hold a passport in the UK and Revolut insisting i need to go off and pay to get mine renewed when i have no plans to go on holiday seems a bit off.
Financial organisations may need to keep customer proof of ID updated to keep up with regulatory requirements, but when they have refused to accept a valid photo card driving licence for an existing customer and threatened to restrict my account, this must be grounds to make a formal complaint ?

You can complain but it may not change their policy.0

Their choice not yours - your choice is use them or not1

Your options: 1: Renew your passport and provide Revolut with what they're looking for.
2: Close your Revolut account and move on.1 -

Quite simple, follow their rules or have your account closed down.0 -

Im afraid the argument is void. There is no legal requirement to hold a driving licence unless you want to drive, there is no legal requirement to hold a gas bill in paper form. Yet these are used by banks to ensure identity. It’s a bit strange that they will not accept a drivers license, but you need to find another bank if you cannot complete their checks.0
