I'm so so sorry, i feel heartbroken for you both, but I'm sure he had one hell of a life and no one in the world would have treated him with the love that you and your Husband did.
We have 1 year old Miniature Schnauzer, who is the love of our lives and already dread the day we have to say goodbye, but like you you try to give them the best lives possible until that day!
Hope things get better.

So sorry to hear about Eric, I went through very similar nearly 3 years ago with our cat and, like you, had booked the vet visit for the evening, I took him out to his favourite spot to lay in the sun (he couldn't walk either by then) and he drifted off. I'm sure the last thing Eric will have known is the cosy spot where he'd settled himself and you looking after him.
I think you should celebrate him tonight, forget about the challenge.
Thinking of you and sending lots of love.

Thanks again for all the messages they have given me great comfort so nice to know that I am not the only one who feels like this loosing a pet. Li.ttle Mama what you wrote about your cat was so sweet thank you. Also Llamahead you are right they do treat us humans like slaves its the old joke dogs have owners cats have slaves. Danny don't worry sounds like you have many lovely years ahead with your Schnauzer enjoy it.
Well better get on with some work then.
The house is very empty without him but we did toast him in cava last night both with tears in our eyes. We then started looking online of pictures of kitten in particular Maine Coone or Norwegian Forest Cats as they look so like him. I don't want one straight away but I miss having a cat around already.
Working from home today and gosh do I have to crack on as my boss mention yesterday and that I don't have many appointments which is correct. Also got to sort out my training days some of the dates will now have to change which is a pain but cannot be helped.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Morning house still feel empty without a cat but at least don't feel as sad now. Have started researching for kittens and the Maine Coon race has really got to me. My Eric looked so like them and the more I read about their personality the more I feel I want one. I am not trying to replace him but they are so lovely. Spoke to a breeder yesterday she said I could come and look at them anytime and then put a deposit down for a kitten which would be ready in Apri/May which I think would be the right time. DH has just rung he has been looking at the website and he wants us to go and look this weekend. They are £400 and more but being MF I think we deserve it.
For those you like big cats look at the size of the one next to the bottle of wine. http://www.interwebcomputers.co.uk/majesticoon/default.htm

Just called up the breeder we are going to see the cats tomorrow with the view to put a deposit down for a kitten ready in April/May. Cannot wait.
On other more crap news my office has now booked me a tour on a Monday morning at 9am which means a 4am start from home. Fantastic eventhough I did specify the need to come up after 11am.
Also my mum sent me some pictures of our house in 1978/79 when
Denmark had the worst snow ever.
It took my dad 2 weeks to dig out the front door until then we used the window on the other side of the house. Yes it is me and my sister on the 3rd picture. 4th Picture is from April 1979 the snow came on boxing day 1978 and stayed until long after Easter. Crazy it was the Finns had to lend Denmark some snowploughs as the ones Denmark had were useless.Save £12k in 25 No 49
