Sorry I haven't updated all week, that is rubbish. Still thinking about bathrooms but not made a decision yet.

Work has paid my expenses so my bankaccount is looking a lot better. I have to pay for stuff and then they pay me back. This month it was over £750 so great to have it back.

Got my Tesco Vouchers yesterday. For some reason we have two accounts one goes straight into airmiles and the other is linked to my Tesco Credit Card. We had £9 worth of vouchers from that. Cool will have to read Martin's Guide as I have never really got into the vouchers before. What does everyone else spend them on? We don't have kids so days out at a themepark is not really our thing. DH would like to go away for Easter do they do hotel?

On the MB front I have now finished with VC Bets. I had my second lot of £50 free bet and that took my free bet balance to £65. Stuck that on Chelsea winning 0-0 and they did. I had of course layed it at Betfair so no problem. Now I have £41 left in my Betfair account so have requested a payout from VC and will then top it up again. Not really that worried as I still have some float left in my Nationwide account.

Profit is now up to £299 - will sign up for my next new bookie at the weekend.

Always haggle on big bathroom purchases, you should be able to get 10-20% off. My haggling tactics on big purchases is that I get things all priced up, then ask if there are likely to be any future sale promotions, then say I'll take it there and then for a discount of X%. Often more effective towards the end of the month too when they'll be chasing sales targets.

This sounds very expensive though. I bought an Ideal Standard top of the range Sottini bathroom suite (bath, basin, toilet) plus top of the range mixer shower, expensive fittings and so on a few years ago for £2500 or so. Tiles and everything else were probably no more than a few hundred on top.

Thanks Tim, I like the idea of asking for a discount, the Bathstores sales ends on Sunday so perhaps that is a good time to ask. My £5000 for materials is for 3 rooms and I know if I went to B&Q it would be a lot cheaper, just didn't like their stuff at all.

How do you think I have done on the MB front? Obviously could not have done it without you so thanks for that.

Right no real update on MB but the bathroom is moving along nicely. Really like the guy who came out yesterday and he has got some great ideas. I know they will be expensive but I think it will be worth it.

The sale at the Bathstore ends Sunday and we are currently saving £950 so I was going to call them and ask if they would hold the prices until we get the quote from the new guy. However the manager phoned me today, he is keen for me to place the order before Sunday. I didn't really know what to do as the fitter is changing things so the order will be different. The manager then phoned the fitter and they both rang me back. Fitter will complete quote tonight and drop it around tomorrow morning. We can then place the order if we decide to go ahead. He can't start until May but if this sale really is ending it seems a shame to miss out but I will ask for a discount too. Hopefully it won't be really really high........   because I know what we are like.

Could save a bit of money as there is a cabinet from the Bathstore on sale on Ebay, it finishes tomorrow so might try and get that and save a bit of money.

Our Nationwide Accounts are now sorted so need to go into town and put some money in it so I can make free withdrawals when we go to Portugal. Only 3 days to go:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Hi tg

On the Tesco vouchers, we use ours for free Avis car hire in Portugal, meals at Bella Italia or Blockbuster dvd rentals. You can use them for hotels and holidays. Have you got a deals booklet ? Here's the deals page at Tesco.

We received £20 in last weeks mailing, I'll convert these online to £80 of Av*s vouchers and book a car for our trip in August.

Thanks MTP that is a really good idea must get hold of a Deals Catalogue see if I can persuede DH to go to Tesco. Sainsburys is nearer and there is a lot of roadworks outside Tesco which is a nightmare.

Fitter is coming around this morning to give us a quote will update you later with the scary figure.

Signed up for a new bookie B£365 (£=e) placed my first bet for £50 and have got my free bet of £50. Now I need to place 5 more £50 bets to get the next one and so on until I have had to the total £200. Nice but my Betfair balance is quite low while I wait for VC to refund my winning.

You can view Tesco Clubcard deals online: http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/

We use ours for RAC membership and magazine subscriptions - not very exciting but saves money which can be spent on exciting things ;)

Right this is it we have found a bathroom fitter and and have decided to go ahead. Lets work out the cost.

    Cloakroom
    Materials Bathstore:£704
    Labour: £1,300
    Extra materials: £100
    Tiles estimate: £75
    Total: £2,179

    Bathroom
    Materials Bathstore: £2,294
    Labour: £2,500
    Extra Material: £300
    Underfloor Heating estimate: £200
    Tile Estimate £500
    Total: £5,794

    Ensuite:
    Materials Bathstore: £1,242
    Wetroom incl underfloor heating: £2,300
    Labour £2,500
    Extra Materials£300
    Tiles estimate: £500
    Total£6,842

    Painting £600
    Lighting & Fans Estimate: £200

    Total £15,615

Actually I am quite happy with that we get exactly what we wanted a hell of a lot more than our original quote for £17,000. Our fitter will go through the Bathstore bill and check we can't get it cheaper elsewhere. If we can we can get the Bathstore to match it. We have also got 12 months interest free credit which will help with the mortgage offset for a while.

Can't wait just need to sort out the tiles and he thinks he can start in early April and that it will take 2 months to do. I think it will look fab and I will make sure I post pictures on here.
