It's difficult to be tempted by the Sky deals when they state that the plan may increase. I've no idea how likely that is to happen or by how much, but I imagine there's a reasonable chance of it given they can't offer any assurance just for 12 months.
Ok you can cancel but then there's the TrustPilot rating of 86% 1-star, so who knows that that'll go.

I've just arranged a Sky BB product and I do not like that other providers already have set increases for this year and next.
With Skys future increases comes a 30 day get out of the 2year contract.

I was only comparing £2.50 with Tesco to £2 with Sky which has a much bigger allowance and some extra freebies.

I expect it will go up after 12 months as it's a special offer but it's still a £6 saving and then switch to whatever you like, Lebara cheap deal or a PAYG for example.
  • So having been switched to Essentials, I've now received this:

Tesco Mobile: Your free exclusive £2.50 bundle ends on ## Dec. To keep this bundle, text YES to 26464 by ## Dec. Your bundle will then auto-renew every 30 days using your top-up balance. You can also turn on auto-renewal via the app: tesco.com/payg/app. If you don't renew, this bundle won't be available again. You can cancel at any time. Without a bundle, standard charges will apply. Download your T&Cs, Contract Info & Contract Summary here https://e.tesco.mobi/renderers/link?C=Dd3SH4

    This confirms that:
    1) The introductory bundle doesn't auto-renew by default.
    2) If you don't renew it, you can't get it back.
    3) Tesco to stingy bar stewards by not making this bundle available in the future if you don't choose to auto-renew.
  • Where is this £1 Sky deal?
I have TV, landline and broadband with Sky but can't find it anywhere

It's gone, same tariff is now on special offer for £2 per month (instead of £5)

Rhetorical question - if the web service is being withdrawn, why weren't Tesco Mobile online account holders notified by e-mail ?
  • Which webservice are you referring to?

Regarding essentials:  I can confirm that you can only top up your credit with the app or a voucher - no cards. Apparently they are "working" on making cards a possibility.
Cards were usable before, so maybe this was omitted with the intent of "encouraging" people to use their app, but they are now perhaps realising that the majority of users being switched to this tariff are not going to be using a device capable of running any sort of app.

It was originally tescomobile.com, then topup.tescomobile.com
  • Thought I'd just post that I had an old SIM on the Lite tariff which has only just been given notice of being moved to essentials.  It belonged to a late relative so has had the bare minimum of usage to keep it active.

Despite this it has not been offered the £2.50 bundle.
Tesco's "recommendation based on usage" is the £5 bundle.
