I'm looking for a tablet for my partner, he's not the most techie minded and will be using it mainly for browsing the news and google searching. He has a Samsung mobile, so ideally I'd like a Samsung tablet but budget is around £250.
I've just seen this which looks a good deal, but is it too good...

TBH when the price undercuts Amazon by so much and the Coco Company has only 13 reviews on Trustpilot I'd be very cautious.3

I'll go back to searching. Has anyone seen any deals on Samsung tablets?

The 'S' series of tablets is Samsung's Flagship, the most recent being the S11 which launched this month.
A S9 which you might expect to retail around the £500-£700 range, for £229 new is deep in 'too good to be true' territory.
Based on what you've said, I'd definitely suggest the Tab A9 - it's their current entry level offering and can be picked up for £99 in Argos:

If you'd prefer a bigger screen than 8inch, the A9 Plus is available for £122.99 (absolute bargain price):

I thought the same. Amazon have it for £100 more for something "renewed".Vitor said:TBH when the price undercuts Amazon by so much and the Coco Company has only 13 reviews on Trustpilot I'd be very cautious.
I bought this tablet a year ago at John Lewis and thought it was a good deal at £289, so naturally I think you have made a brilliant choice of a fantastic bit of kit.
Samsung have the Tab A9 for around £150 on their website (£50 off) seems to be even cheaper at John Lewis.

Don't forget to buy a case for the thing, doesn't need to be the £££ Samsung one, anything generic off Amazon will do just to protect from knocks & scratches.1 -

My wife suggested her mother buy a A9 Plus last weekend for £150 off Amazon because they were running a deal on their tablets and at that moment we felt she was getting a fantastic bargain - I had intended to go on there just now to find the listing again to share with the OP and could not believe there was a listing (sold by Amazon brand new with 3 year Samsung warranty) for £122.99.flaneurs_lobster said:

is it worth paying a little extra for the 128gb?

Both lower end tablets. Personally, for the budget, I would not consider anything less than 8GB of RAM and preferably with a 4G/5G modem.Exodi said:The 'S' series of tablets is Samsung's Flagship, the most recent being the S11 which launched this month.

Tricky, still a good deal at that price but only really justified if the tablet is going to hold a lot of stuff.
I travel a fair amount and download a lot of TV/films at high quality to watch offline so that's my excuse.
Having a lot of apps will also use a fair chunk of space.
Day to day Internet browsing or even moderate downloading, I wouldn't bother.0 -

To be honest, it depends on what it's used for.Glad said:is it worth paying a little extra for the 128gb?

The average picture is ~4mb, so 64GB is ~16,000 pictures. Songs encoded in sensible bit rates are similar file sizes.
Apps can take up a decent chunk of data - on my phone it's around 30GB (but then I have ~130 Apps, including social media, web browsers, emails, etc). If you throw games in the mix you can add on potentially a GB per game (or more if you're getting massive games). Also if you're downloading videos to watch later, you may struggle.
For "browsing the news and google searching" 64gb would be more than enough. If it's going to be used daily, loaded with pictures, filled with apps and games, videos, etc it would likely not.
However you don't need to decide now, the S9 Plus comes with a microSD tray, so if you wanted more storage, it would be more economical to buy something like): https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-256GB-Ultra-microSDXC-Adapter/dp/B0B7NV73PJ
I stated they were Samsung's "current entry level offering" but remember we're not shopping for you, we're shopping for someone who "will be using it mainly for browsing the news and google searching" and "ideally [would] like a Samsung tablet "BFBW said:

I interpret a budget as "willing to spend up to £250" as opposed to "I must spend exactly £250" - if something can be purchased that ticks all the boxes for half the price someone had in mind, isn't that a good thing? This is MSE after all.
