Parked to charge an Electric Vehicle

Hi

On 10/08/25 I parked my EV at the Premier Inn to charge the vehicle. After 15 days I was sent a Parking Charge Notice from Horizon Parking as shown in the attachment. On receiving the letter I called Premier Inn to ask about the parking rules and the receptionist said that parking at the EV bay was free up to 90 mins ( I was parked for an hour) . I appealed my case but it was rejected( mail attached) . What do I do next?

Get some photos from the EV bay showing what the signs say. That sign won't be likely to even be visible from the EV bay and if you can evidence that, you can win at POPLA.

The NtK is not PoFA compliant. Their keeper liability warning does not comply with the warning wording required under PoFA, despite them quoting the relevant paragraph reference. No tick there for you Horizon!

As long as the driver has not been identified, this should be a straightforward win at POPLA.

    EDIT TO ADD

@Coupon-mad is correct (as always), now we've seen the reverse of the NtK, the correct PoFA 9(2)(f) is there.

But we need to see the back where I think Horizon do get it right. And we need the two dates that were wrongly redacted!

You were charged for using it after 6pm, so it's a "no parking" situation.

A big illuminated "charge you car here and give us money!" area would suggest otherwise, and a small "guest parking only after these hours" sentence on a far away sign is as clear as mud.

Turn the machines off if use of the land is not permitted. You can't invite people onto the land and then accuse them of breach of contract. It's ridiculous.

Imagine being in Tesco at 10pm, paying for a Twix at the self service and then being stopped by the security guard at the exit, pointing at a small sign next to the open door and being told to pay £100 because the shop is closed.

You just need to put some text outside of the picture box. Minimum 9 characters - doesn't need an essay! 😀
