@Watty1 - I'm not 100% sure but Couch to Fitness may have some weight routines in it - I remember there were no equipment exercises but I'm not sure about the weight ones - may have been a different app!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! I think it must be something in the air: I was looking for weightlifting exercises for beginners. I think I know where my weights are!
I've gone and downloaded the bike app too, though I'm not sure I'm confident enough. However, I won't get more confident is I don't start, and I need something to do on non-running days (apart from sit at the computer, I mean).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

I've just started CrossFit and really enjoying it. Love having someone telling me everything I need to be doing, correct positions and everything can be scaled to suit ability so it's not as hard as I thought.Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

There might be classes on offer in your area to help you get started? My mom and brother go to one for people who are older/have chronic illness. There could be something like that available for different circumstances?5

I hope you have padded pants 😂redofromstart said:Two trips out on the bike in the last week - one x 20 mile circuit with a (cruel!) friend, and the other a shorter ride locally, as well as 20k on my exercise bike. I am enjoying it and it doesn't seem to have the same impact on my joints/chronic fatigue as walking or running which is a relief. What I need to find is a 'couch to 5k' equivalent for cycling if anyone has any suggestions?

Thank you for all the suggestions. I do have hand weights which turned up when I was tidying so I am also looking for something that magically gives me some enthusiasm for that.
The cycling app has been installed, and I will be following that as a mix of outside and the exercise bike.
I do indeed have padded pants @greenbee, the joy of very experienced cycling friends was that they insisted that I needed helmet, gloves, rear light and some decent padded leggings. I was already indoctrinated in the whole 'dress for the slide not the ride' and associated but essential expense from being pillion on the motorbikes, and it was much cheaper than that kit.
It reminded me of one of my former work colleagues telling me about a first aid course at his cycling club which crumbled into a heated debate at the point they got told to cut someone's (expensive!) kit off them
The sun is trying to shine here so my plan is a short local cycle this morning before I crack on with house stuff.
I got the first part of my lovely merino throw knitted yesterday, it is definitely blanket making weather again here. 12 balls of super chunky pure merino, in nice muted colours so three big stripes and just enough pattern to keep my brain engaged rather than over thinking. I will have to think hard about where it goes though as the wool is hand wash only so I will fall out with any cats who dare to use it.

I recall even hospital staff baulk at cutting off clothing - I once broke my leg and begged them to cut my boot off but they would not. The boot removal was excruciating. In another instance I had to have an over the head pull off item removed, with a head cut open quite severely and they would not do that. I asked for scissors and got the person that came in with me to do it.
i can understand how that would end at heated debate at a cycling club event
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
I'm glad you've got all the right kit. Although you could have had my bike lights as I don't have a bike anymore...
I've just given away all my running shoes, including two pairs that were hardly used at I bought them just before I got Covid in 2020. As I haven't used them for 5 years it seemed sensible to release them. I should probably go through the rest of my running stuff and cull it.4
