@Watty1, I know you will remember to shift the pile around to drive out any thing that's taking shelter there - you could have a massive insect hotel or hedgehog lodge! 😊 (In my head, a family of hedgehogs is heading for a hedge, carrying suitcases).
My brain clearly needs something to do. 😁🦔🦔🦔

The good thing about shredding is the wildlife will be disturbed as you drag the bits out. The shreddings can then be piled up to start composting and used as mulch in about February when you want to start locking the moisture into the soil in the garden. I had a HUGE pile of shrubs that were shredded, and I've kept shreddings from tree surgery, and it all seems to vanish!

I would so love a hedgehog hotel. Rest assured no hedgehogs will be disturbed and the whole scrappy heap can remain if there is a hedgehog there😊
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
We usually have hedgehogs here too. I think they mostly come for the water trays. We did a lot more hedge trimming and filled three builders bags with clippings. Still more to do but the front looks so much better already.
We then had an excellent break away despite getting caught up in train problems on the way there and ending up spending nearly three hours in a courtesy taxi to London. Missed our connection, despite having allowed a few hours for a museum visit between trains, but Euro* couldn't have been more helpful, straight onto the next available service without any charge. I have walked a faintly ridiculous number of steps looking at things rather than at screens or public transport, and along the way saw some very famous art works, had a glorious dinner on a sunset river cruise, eaten lunch in a rather tall tower and went to an organ recital in a cathedral. Hotel was lovely, as was the company. My feet are grateful to be home where I have mostly done nothing today. Back to the grindstone tomorrow. My 'fun' pot took a bit of a battering but it was money well spent.

Your time in London sounds wonderful, despite the travel issues. I hope the feet get a day or so to recover!
