Outside - Utilising green bin space is a great suggestion but it is a paid for service, and the only ones who have it are the keen gardeners. It is huge lumps of elderly and very spiky pyracantha, which penetrates any gloves (including nice gauntlets!) and brings me out in a splendid rash. It'll get shifted, slowly. I shall worry about it once the rest is stripped at the weekend.

Inside - Lots more shredding done, on to the harder to do things in plastic folders etc which slows me down. I need to find things to watch and make myself do half an hour every evening this week. Finally on the last bookcases, mostly work books, collectibles or things I want to keep like the hard copy Pratchett.

I strongly suggest that Stinky does not roll in the Pyracantha. Last time the Fluffy Trousered idiot cat got a spike stuck it was a very expensive vet visit indeed.

I've already had to have a conversation with Stinky about not going into the stubble fields, especially the rape field. So I will also explain about pyracantha.

Obviously pyracantha will probably be one of the things that survives the drought.

I am on a roll this week, more clearing and some painting done. I am suitably exhausted and really need to take it easy today as I have more weekend assistance.

I have researched garden shredders but neglected to order one in time. One of the neighbours was having some pyracantha professionally removed and I was so tempted to wait till they went on their lunchbreak and add my stuff to their pile. I have asked before and they will not do my shredding while they are there, even if I pay.

My distraction time is making a vague intinery for an upcoming short trip, recreating an adventure from 29 years ago (without the ceremony, just in case my mother is reading😉) as we found some super cheap euro* tickets a few months ago. As usual this will involve lots of walking around a city, but I have booked an organ recital in a cathedral which should be interesting and ticks the 'must include some kind of music' requirement of my traveling companion. My free KU subscription includes access to a few travel guides which is helpful. Must check the weather forecast.

Coincidentally I've just ordered a garden shredder today from Am@zon. I can't believe I haven't thought of buying one before to be honest as I often struggle to fit all the clippings in the garden waste bin. The shredded clippings will also come in useful for mulch.

I keep thinking a shredder would be useful as I have so much stuff - but - I think it might need to be an industrial sized one. Oh - now I've thought of that - maybe I could just hire one?

Yes, you can hire shredders! The really tough ones are petrol rather than electric.

Thanks. That will be the solution to the wood pile in the field I really want gone. it is mostly old bits of tree to small to turn into firewood and bushes and was suppose to have been burnt by someone working here but now I feel everything is to dry to burn and I don't want to leave it over yet another winter as I'd like to get that part of the field back to grazing land but cant because of the wood pile and the weeds. Love this forum, sorry for the hijack but a solution found :)
