In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Well done from me too."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5

Well done @redofromstart. You're doing brilliantly for yourself and loved ones. Quite right, living your life as a memorial isn't good in any way. It's not honouring the lost loved one and you can end up getting stuck for years. Love Humdinger xx11

Oh redo - I could cry! Since I last read your diary back in autumn you have achieved so much in that time! You have been so sensible over the decluttering which must be doubly hard when letting go of things that were dear to your OH. The building work has been going well too and may it continue.I agree with you and the others that living your life as a memorial isn't the way to go - you are still young and the world awaits to fill with good times.Congratulations on the weight loss too! From a 16 to size 10 is brilliant!
Also I'm so pleased to hear about Doglet settling down in her new home. It must have been a wrench to say goodbye, even though you're not really 'doggy', as she's such a part of memories but you've done the right thing by her.I shall be cheering you on into 2026 and looking forward to reading your new adventures (and those recipes too of course!) xxx😀👍Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Big well done on both the moving stuff on and on taking steps to ensure that people understand that you don't need the "stuff" to maintain the memories. If others can get the value from the things Mr Redo loved then that's a brilliant way of honouring his memory all round isn't it.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thank you everybody.
All good here thanks, I have just been busy with filling the skip etc. Said skip has now been collected and I am currently on a mission to clear the dining room so I can actually use the exercise equipment that is hidden behind the inevitable mountains of 'stuff'.
I fantasise about minimalist living in a shiny new build. I would probably hate it but right now it is helping with my focus.
