A filled skip that has been collected is a thing of joy. Brilliant.
Good luck with clearing the dining room. I, on the other hand struggle to clear my dining room table

I too have dreams of a minimalist lifestyle but am not yet strong enough to get to that
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
A minimalist lifestyle just isn't for me - I LIKE my stuff, I LOVE having bookcases crammed full of books for example - and even more having bookcases with room spare for more! The biggest mystery with the house when we bought it is that seemingly our sellers only had one book that we saw any evidence of - an old copy of a Delia cookbook that they left behind on top of the kitchen cabinets (and we subsequently gave back!) At no stage on the viewings OR in any of the photos were there are books to be seen - how do folk live like that?!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

EH, I judge by books or lack thereof as well but there is only me who reads physical books and I struggle with holding books when my fibro is bad and with my rubbish eyesight so the kindle is much easier. I am down to two full height book cases now to sort, and have kept one full shelf of cookbooks and one full shelf of gardening. The least I have owned since I have owned a house I think.
DIA, I have the same problem with the dining table, it has been a general storage facility since everything went pear shaped. I did make a start today by putting a bedspread back through the wash which had been there for at least six months and had therefore become a cat bed.
NorthAthenian, yes my yarn based stuff is currently like that, and it will be till I make myself clear out his stuff from what was his craft room/study. Same as you, I walk in, despair, and leave. Trying to make myself do timed 15 minute slots. Good luck with yours.
Merlins_Beard, I do remember from my own new build experience many years ago that they basically lacked storage so there was an inevitability to clutter.
Watty1, I think there is a certain inevitability to stuff with animals though.

I am glad he wears his pin, (and that it hasn't just turned into clutter!) and that you both continue to find humour in challenging circumstances. It certainly helps me to get through things relatively positively.rtandon27 said:OH says to tell you he's still wearing his sign (pin) & he aten't dead yet! xxxMy mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Yesterday was a bit mixed, hard to get much done when it is cold because my joints play up. I noticed when I answered the front door that I could see daylight through one of the cracks and remembered where I had seen wood repair filler in the indoor workshop, so I got on with that job instead of just writing it on the list to ignore. Had to cut the tube open but it would have just gone in the bin otherwise, hopefully it will set ok. The front door bakes in the sun so it splits as it swells in winter and dries out in the summer. It is also old, solid wood and a funny size so replacing it isn't easy so running repairs have always been required. I need to go back and sand once the filler has dried properly.
I went through stuff in my bedroom drawers and exited a few more bits. The drawers do need to go sadly due to the worm damage and will have to be broken down to go to the tip but I think I will be able to bring the spare bedroom ones through at the weekend when I have a willing assistant to move things. Depends on the weather though, snow may stop those plans. My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

Lovely to *see* you redo. Have you got anything on your knitting needles or crochet hook at the mo? Fully realise you're busy with the reno works, but just wondered if you had something in a project bag?

Re. the old CoD - could you just burn it? Either in the woodburner as kindling, or outside in a firepit? Having used half the last house as firewood, I tend to assume everything is fuel unless there's a good reason not to use it. And I hate going to the tip...5
