    :rotfl:

Another horror Park was Corton Beach Holiday Village. When we arrived the place stank of p*ss! I reckon that the cleaner must have cleaned the table and sides in the chalet with the same cloth they'd cleaned the toilet with! After cleaning things down the smell went (mostly). Grim! We saw a few people drive up and a bit later after checking their chalets drive off!!! We were poor and couldn't afford that luxury.

    OMG !

no matter where i go on a s/c hol
i always bring clean cloths and plenty of bleach spray and anti bac wipes ! and even if it looks clean i like to clean the surfaces just in case ! :rotfl:

i know i shouldnt laugh chris .................. but :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Its ok I laugh about it now, it wasnt so funny at the time though, I thought I had cut my leg up pretty bad (it only turned out to be a graze though)

I've been doing these Sun holidays since they first started, I think that Sussex Beach one was at least 12 years ago so to be fair it may have improved a lot since I went there (although after a quick google it doesnt sound like it)

I much prefer the Devon/Dorset area though, I love it down there. Last year before going to Ruda we camped the weekend before at West bay in Dorset, the park is owned by the same company as Ruda (Parkdean Holidays) but as we were camping and not on a sun holiday we didnt stay in a caravan but I think that is usually one of the choices in the Sun and I would definately go back there and stay in a caravan. The bar etc. was quite small but again its right near the beach and there is a couple of pubs and stuff to go to.

Also, if you do go to Ruda I recommend a day out at Exmoor zoo! If you have seen the film "Fierce creatures" then you will find it really funny! (one of the first animal displays your get to is rabbits and guinea pigs!) they take Tesco deal tokens so it was a free day out.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
  • Chris is the Ruda Park on a hill, with 'toad crossing' signs on the road down to it and a manned security box on the front gates?

Was thinking of the West Bay one is it near the beach - just reread your post, yes it is!?

excellent,i have some deals leftover from booking a summer hol !
you are selling Ruda to me :D
  • oh ruda is lovely :D you can lie on the beach and see sheep and cows grazing on the hills, it's very odd.

we used to pay full price for ruda until another family told us they were on a sun holiday for a quarter of the price we'd paid. we hadn't heard of sun holidays then because we didn't buy the paper.

it's a lovely park, and it has a waterworld swimming pool thing - the type with rapids, bubble pools etc. but you have to pay extra for it i think.

Yeah it is on a bit of a hill, there is a security box on the gate but never anyone in it when I've been there (although I dont usually go in peak times) dont remember seeing toad crossing signs though!
The beach is lovely and has rocks at either end of the beach that kids will love (I'm a big kid and love climbing around on the rocks and the rock pools )
You do have to pay a bit extra for the pool (Cascades) Cant remember how much it was, we didnt go in there, dont think it was too expensive though.

West Bay one is very close to the beach, was a really nice park too, West bay itself is quite nice but can imagine its a bit bleak out of season, spoilt for choice for chip shops (there must be at least half a dozen) cant comment on caravans as didnt stay in one but they all looked good, I think there quite a few privately owned ones on that site too. We camped there the last weekend in June (my birthday) and the weather was terrible, we thought the tent was going to blow away at one point! I think my camping days are over! If you are going to West bay my recommendation for a day out (or at least a bit of "shopping") would be the Palmers brewery in Bridport. There is a brewery tour and they have a wine shop also sell cask beer by the four pint bottle for around £6 MMMmmmm:beer: Also, take a drive along to Seatown and nip in the Anchor Inn for a slice of their homemade Dorset apple cake, delish!

I think we've been there on a previous Sun Holiday we've also have been going since the early 90s (when did they start?).

Lurve rock pools - you've sold me! (Don't tell RachieB :p).

Oh and I refuse to mention the brewery tours to the OH!!! I think we've seen the brewery when we went to the supermarket in Bridport - we were staying at Newlands in Charmouth (via Sun Hols) so we could go fossil-hunting, great stuff! :)

I've been to quite a few different parks on these Sun holidays and Ruda is the only one I have gone back to, I was even thinking of paying full price to go this year and stay in one of their wooden lodges, they look REALLY nice.

I really like it there and have been there five times, the area is really nice around there and the beaches are lovely. Also close by is Ilfracombe which is nice, I liked the fudge shop down by the harbour, they make the fudge there in the shop in front of you, and it smells bloody lovely!!

I want to go back there now! Wasnt going to save the tokens this time round as were are going away in March so was gonna leave it til later in the year. Now I talk about I want to go back!

Ok dont mention the tour but certainly pop into the shop, you're right its opposite the Morrisons, the beer is lovely and at about £6 for four pints its a bargain! (My tip is the Palmers 200)

The beach at West bay and along at Seatown is also really good for fossil hunting.
