...can anyone recommend or tell me which are the better ones to visit in Scotland?

Not been to any in Scotland myself

but try putting the park name into www.tripadvisor.com and see if there are reviews on it :)

    same as us :T

They are fab for family breaks IMO,and at £100 for a family of 4 ( we've not paid that much though) still a bargain :D

butlins charge £8 each for the passes i think, and everyone needs one, even the baby. i think it was more than a hundred for our butlins holiday, but saved elsewhere because my roller coaster mad family got free fair ground rides. usually when we're on holiday my husband drives to the nearest fairground and spends a fortune

but we have had very cheap sun holidays before now, not paying for ents passes etc. because we don't go for arcades and cabaret really, we can do without it. and sometimes swimming pools onsite are vile, so we go to the one in the local town instead.

We went to the one at Ayr - Parkdean Sundrum Castle and to be honest it was quite shabby, pool is tiny and it was freezing, kids jump in and straight back out but this was quite a few years ago and it might have been refurbished since then but I doubt if the pool is any bigger.
  • i looked at ayr and there's a lot to do in the local area - even a shabby park might be okay if you plan to spend your time in the local area and just use the caravan for sleeping in.

  • i know this is cheeky of me but does anybody have an online booking reference that they won't be using this year? i would be very grateful. it would probably involve forwarding the confirmation details etc. on to me, and you'd probably be liable if i pinched a toaster :p so i know it's a cheeky thing to ask ...

  • sorry to be stupid ... but ...

they are printing 12 token over 2 weeks - does that mean they print 6 a week? does sunday's paper (news of the world is it?) have a token? they say the booking site opens on thursday but if there's no sunday token will it be friday when we get the 6th token?

Just another quick note, last year I got my last choice which was Woolacombe bay holiday park, I would certainly NOT recommend that one, the caravans were old and shabby and didnt look like they had been cleaned after the previos visiters, it was pretty disgusting to be honest, full up ashtrays all over the place and a great big bogey wiped on the wall by the door in the living room. GRIM!
Its also miles away from the beach, dont go thinking its walking distance, you have to pay £1.50 a day for the bus down into the town and the bar/entertainment room was really dark and dingey.

Hated our stay there so much we came home a day early.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
