regarding the person asking about scotland, grannies in dornoch is lovely has to be the best one by far. my granny in law used to own it a long time ago
nairn is nice too.
dont go to weymes bay its terrible, we hated it and only stayed 2 nights and came home. food was awfull entertainment was awful. and not being horrible but full of lager louts.... we were scared ! so came home . that was 3 years ago might be better now.
i am planning only choosing grannys in dornoch when i book. its only 2 hours up the road from us. if not will pay through the park. never got it last year and had to pay full park prices.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0 -
Just in case anyone's fancying southern Ireland, unless it's had a refurb in the last couple of years, I'd advise avoiding Wests caravan park like the plague! Nasty grubby little site and the caravans were old and filthy inside. We (and others who arrived at the same time) couldn't bear the thought of staying in them even for one night so demanded our money back and paid a bit extra to stay at a site a few miles down the road. The area around Kerry/Cork is beautiful though, hope to go back one day - just not to Wests:eek: !!!0

Not that I'm thinking of going but there are two Woolacombe parks, which one is getting the bad reviews (in case anyone is going)?
Woolacombe Bay Holiday Village
Woolacombe Sands Holiday Park0 -

Woolacombe Bay Holiday Village
Woolacombe Sands Holiday Park
Woolacombe bay is the awful one I went to, although they are both owned by the same company so I wouldnt choose the other one either.
If you want a good park in that area choose Ruda at Croyde bay, its about 10 mins from Woolacombe and is far nicer.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
I have been on 4 Sun holidays now - 2 great , 2 dire ! both Haven ones (Skegness and Great Yarmouth were brilliant ) . 1 in Ilfracombe was awful - filthy damp accomadation and nothing to do. Prestayn Sands was just as bad accomadation wise , only stayed at Prestatyn for 2 hours - saw a fight between 2 members of staff and thought...hmmmm time to go x x
I'm planning to book this year but will definately be opting for a Haven one0 -
I've been to one of the Woolacombe ones a few years back. Was ok, nothing special but definatly not awful...0

The Woolacombe Bay park was definately one of the worst of these parks I've been to, the caravans were old and dirty and didnt look like they had been cleaned for ages.
To go into a caravan for your holiday and see a great big bogey smeared all over the wall and 3 or 4 ashtrays full of butts all over the place is pretty awful, especially when compared with our stay in Ruda holiday park later on in the year where the caravans are kept like new and are fully equiped and cleaned thoroughly.
I would never go back to the Woolacombe one. It was (in my experience) awful.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
...can anyone recommend or tell me which are the better ones to visit in Scotland?
I've been to Granny's Heiland Hame at Dornoch we had a great time (3 adults 2 kids ! dog) The site is right next to a beautiful beach. swimming pool is on the small side though.
Also been to Tummel Valley enjoyed this too.
Nairn Lochloy, great setting next to beautiful beach but did not find the club very child friendly!0 -

accom was clean and tidy, staff were lovely
as it was almost the end of the season we didnt really use any of the facilities, kids clubs, pool etc
the club house was ok,bit dark and dreary but apparently they are refurbing it ready for 2008 season
Lovely area,if you just want to use the site as a base too
