It is a bit extreme, but it is likely to work. You could do a clean reinstall, which would almost certainly fix the problem.I don't think I have broken anything so a re-install is a bit extreme. I think MS should have provided a date that the enroll option should appear by, not simply state they are gradually rolling it out and nobody knows when they might get the enrol option, if at all.
I assume that you have already run a system scan? What sort of system scan?I'll probably try this and do the second method (not the DiagTrack command) https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/how-to-extend-windows-10-support-now-published-by-ghacks/#post-2796782 I believe the current update you must have is KB5063709 though.0 -

However not necessary to backup your personal files to the cloud, I only backed up MS user settings and that sufficed to open up access to free ESU.
Personal files regularly backed up to a couple of external SSD storage.Hi Everyone, I have been following this thread, convincing myself I am doing all the right things to suit my own purposes as I usually learn a lot from all these MSE Forums !After many weeks of worrying that this laptop hasn't got the ' requirements ' but loads of TB's life left in it (a HP Pavilion), no way was I buying a new one. W10 suits me just fine at the moment, thank you very much so I decided on the 'easy option ' to give myself more time. To my surprise, I found myself ' eligible to enrol in ESU at no extra cost ' so clicked the link, then got notification that I was in etc. ( like SpanishBlue posted 16th Sept ... due to backing up I guess). Now I feel silly asking this, but should I also click onto the blue link which says ' Download and install ' which shows up on my Windows Update page, as it says an Optional quality update available? I think my settings allow 7 days before any updates go through (just in case) and am of a similar mind to most here, deciding to ' do my own thing ' as much as I am allowed by Microsoft. Here's the Thing, I am probably closer to 80 than most here, and get a bit confused. That's right, I'm playing the Age card ;-) and have navigated along for years using my husbands account as he is not very good on the IT side of things, whereas I have tried to ' keep up '. Unfortunately I tend to ramble on a bit so will end now by asking for your patience and understanding :-) to go walk our dog before it rains again and much appreciated you reading this..

@erm2019: I just did the same thing. No questions, no quibbles, no charges: it just enrolled me in the extended update program with a couple of clicks. I am UK-based, use a local account, have never backed up to MS and don't have any Microsoft points - whatever they are. This, of course, is what Microsoft should have offered from the beginning, instead of alienating half the planet with an upgrade policy that plumbed new depths of stupidity. It shows once again that you should never be an early adopter...Oh, and optional upates are... optional. Unlike walking the dog.See you all in October 2026...

I’m not that much younger! I just install all the updates, and I don’t care whether Microsoft or Google gets to know lots of personal details like my shoe size. (10.5 extra wide, by the way.)erm2019 said:poseidon1 said:GDB2222 said:For the average user, having things backed up to the MS cloud is “a good thing “. It seems that they have made it free to enroll in the ESU, perhaps because people aren't all up-down-grading to W11. They want to link your PC to the MS account. And probably in time we will see subscription only service from MS.0 -
I can't, as I was injected with Bill Gates's chip.Northern_Wanderer said:GDB2222 said:I don’t care whether Microsoft or Google gets to know lots of personal details like my shoe size. (10.5 extra wide, by the way.)
