I also had those things disabled, via Local Group Policy and Services. Enrol option still appeared. Though I'm not in the U.K. Don't use One Drive for anything and wasn't asked to do so. Clicked to enrol, signed in to a random Microsoft account and that was it. I use a Local account to sign in. Signed out of the Microsoft account everywhere afterwards and that was it.Northern_Wanderer said:Northern_Wanderer said:GDB2222 said:If you’re not getting the enrol button yet, one way to hurry it up is to enrol in the windows release preview channel. There’s an option for this in the windows update section of Settings. It means you will get windows updates a bit sooner than the general release. There’s also a beta channel that may be a bit more risky, and I haven’t tried that, but I have had no issues with the preview channel. You can opt back into the mainstream channel any time.If I turn this on, do I automatically get the "optional" updates automatically installed? I have not turned this on yet but still no ESR option for me. with 11 days to go. It's a bit rediculous. If you activate this setting, the optional updates automatically start downloading. I quickly turned off my internet connection to stop this, then toggled the button off. I don't want the silly feature updates.I watched the video linked here earlier, and some other ones about using some commands. I suspect that I am not seeing the enrol option as I am using Shut Up 10 for privacy reasons and with that, I have disallowed the User Experience & Telemetry settings which I think is what the reg edit (DiagTrack) command will enable, and is required to be able to enrol. Going to have to have a think about this.
I don't even have One Drive on my machine any more so that was also something I thought my be preventing the enrol button. I used to get reminders about end of life for W10, not even seen those for quite some time.0 -
It does look like you have broken something. You could do a clean reinstall, which would almost certainly fix the problem.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I think MS should have provided a date that the enroll option should appear by, not simply state they are gradually rolling it out and nobody knows when they might get the enrol option, if at all.0

In preparation for going to do this on a neighbour's PC tomorrow, I fired up my old lappy (Windows 10) and, after an hour or so of updating (expected) and, following the advice in the video posted above, the "enrol in the ESU" appeared and I was able to click on it and enrol, with it telling me I could do it free! I made sure I turned off the back-up options as advised in the video. After a restart, the Windows update page was telling me I was enrolled. Let's hope it goes as well tomorrow.1

It is a bit extreme, but it is likely to work. If you find some other way of sorting out your situation please let us know.Northern_Wanderer said:GDB2222 said:It does look like you have broken something. I assume that you have already run a system scan?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Well, that went well ......... not! The usual question I ask when helping friends/neighbours is "What's your Microsoft A/C Password" usually followed by embarrassed and shamefaced looks and "I don't know". I wasn't able to proceed with enrolling as that required a Microsoft A/C so I had to recover the password and jeez that is a long-winded process involving codes being sent to email address that never arrive, codes being sent via mobile texts that do and then proving you are not a robot answering silly questions! Anyway, all done and it even offered enrol for free. I accepted that then turned off the back-up options. Result two happy customers and free beer for me on Friday night!Le_Kirk said:In preparation for going to do this on a neighbour's PC tomorrow, I fired up my old lappy (Windows 10) and, after an hour or so of updating (expected) and, following the advice in the video posted above, the "enrol in the ESU" appeared and I was able to click on it and enrol, with it telling me I could do it free! The sort of people who don’t know their MS password are precisely the kind who would benefit from having backup turned on!Le_Kirk said:

Does anyone know for sure what happens if you reinstall after enrolling?
I imagine that it will require you to at least log in to MS again.
I prefer to use a local acccount but don't mind logging in to get the extended support for a spare pc.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
They have had a stern lecture from me about passwords, security and back-up. I left them looking at portable hard drives and AOMEI backupper free software.GDB2222 said:

From what I have read you would have to re-register for ESU. I've also read that you have to log into the MS account at least every 60 days to stay enrolled in the MSU.0
