Many will have just sent their address to the TSB Freepost address. That was enough to qualify.
I am one of those many, not that it made any difference! 🙄 I don't think it was freepost though.

    I did use Freepost.

    How?

The T&Cs said "Alternative entry option: alternatively as a TSB personal current account customer you can enter the prize draw by writing to us by first or second class post during the Promotion Period"

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Though the entries may have been received, if the terms were strictly applied they wouldn't have been entered into the draw.

TSB's investors page says it has 5m(!) customers. With such poor odds of winning you'd only need a small proportion of a customer base that size on 30/09 into 01/10 holding £5k+ in an account to make your already slim chances even slimmer.
But they wouldn't be eligible unless they moved £5k+ into their accounts during September and left it there until the beginning of October. Just holding £5k+ in the account on 30/09 into 01/10 isn't enough.
Sure, but if they're using TSB for their main current and savings accounts they'll be depositing their salaries and what not. £5,000 isn't what it used to be and many people reach a point where moving £5k+ through a current account every month will happen by accident.

Just 0.5% of 5m customers will be 25,000 people and some with multiple entries all competing for what, 155 prizes? The odds are that you're not going to win. You pooh-poohed my winning of two £100 prizes but they were against the odds in those draws as well.

    Prizes:

    5 prizes of £10,000,

    50 prizes of £250,

    100 prizes of £100.

But moving £5k thorough a TSB current account every month (e.g. September) wasn't enough. The deposits had to be in batches of £5k to be included.

Anyway I'm done trying to explain this to you.

I understand it fine. You’re the one struggling to understand the odds and that a £5k deposit isn’t the rare occurrence you think it is.
  • I take a pragmatic view on the plethora of current "prize" draws associated with financial products ie next to no chance of winning!

A 5k deposit into a low/no interest account and not touching until the next month? That seems pretty unique imo. If you had 5k left from your monthly salary after all your outgoings you probably already have a plan for that money to go elsewhere (like a pension), or maybe im just underestimating people's financial sense.
