I am actually spending my Friday night looking at grout. Grout.

    I win the OATs 😂
While you're there can you look at fabric for headboards, and paint colours for my hall please?
I have now gone on build strike so absolutely available to choose paint colours for your hall to start with, what colour tones are we going for?

Haven't the foggiest. Hall is south facing, but very dark at this time of year (only light is through panels either side of the door), landing is north facing (also dark at this time of year). The landing curtains are a very dark blue with deep red flowers and green stems and leaves - they're fabulous, and I love them.

I can use different colours on each floor if I can tie them together with the colour on the stairs wall. I usually have a lighter colour on the wall and a toning darker colour on the woodwork/rad/doors.

Front bedroom (south facing) is F&B calamine walls with Laura Ashley Light Cranberry woodwork/radiators; back bedroom (north) is F&B Pointing on 3 walls with Stiffkey Blue on one wall and woodwork/radiators; my bedroom (north) is Dulux Natural Calico walls with Egyptian Cotton woodwork/radiators; spare room (east and VERY dark) is F&B Farrows Cream with Sudbury Yellow; small bedroom (south, used as an office) has two walls Little Green Etruria, two Bone China Blue, and woodwork in F&B Hague Blue; bathroom (west) is F&B Dix Blue with Hague Blue woodwork; Sitting room (south)  is F&B Dimity and Joa's White; Office (south) is Dulux Cornish Clay with Ropeladder.

I do NOT want grey. The whole house was grey when I moved in, and the light (most of the house is north-facing) does not suit it.

    All ideas welcomed!

Love your colour choices @greenbee, and I am very pleased for you (whilst being envious) that you've been able to go for really nice quality brands too 🥂

For me, I'm a big fan of green to make a place look classy but without being too much in small/linking spaces, and it seems like it would blend with your other palletes.

If there's not that much light I might go against perceived wisdom and lean into the darker shades of green for a plusher effect, with a couple of shades lighter green on the stairs wall. I find green shades also make an effective but not distracting background if you were wanting to put pieces in frames on those areas.

You could contrast and lighten all by having an off white or cream tone along at the top of the walls, and/or introduce coving/picture rails, which always elevate a space

I don't buy the branded paints... I've always got it mixed. I'm using a decorator on this refurb and he does the same - gets the paint mixed using the brand of paint he prefers. The place he uses matches them really well.

I'm leaning towards a dark green on the stair wall and then something lighter on the woodwork and walls to make the most of the light in summer - it'll also make a nice background for all the pictures on that wall. Once I've picked the first colour hopefully the rest will fall into place. Although I may actually have to go and pick up some tester pots to make sure I get the correct tones.

Sounds marvellous, I definitely think greens for the win.
Good idea to get some tester pots but don't get too hung up on it as you can't see what it'll look like all year round so choose the tones that most make your heart feel happy, and the different seasonal lights will bring out their different lovely qualities

Oh I do so love reading about all your OATs being tackled! 😍😍

We have ticked off a ridiculous one this morning - we have bought a kitchen bin! 🙈😂 We've only lived here almost 8 years 😬 We had a box with a lid under the kitchen sink, but it was a nuisance, and Mr C started a basket for dry stuff in the kitchen, - I always hated both, but he was adamant that he didn't want a normal pedal bin.

Anyway, we now apparently have a bloody rat in the house, which has got in under the sink, so I'm afraid I don't care about anyone else's bin preferences. We now have what I consider to be an extremely fetching mustard yellow pedal bin which nicely matches the walls 😁😁

Wondering what else I can tick off as part of rat eviction measures 😂
