Finally ordered a full set of windscreen wiper blades for my car as it became very clear in the rain and road spray today that my current ones are no longer fit for purpose! 😉 Found a really good site that asks for your reg number and finds your exact car, gives you options of a bundle of all of the blades or front or back ones separately and a 10% discount on your first order. 😊
Ordered a new radiator key as Mr KK broke the last one! 😂 This one is a lever style and stainless steel so hopefully he won’t break this one too quickly! 🙄😉
Bought something for me too: New slippers as my current ones I am starting to see the substructure of the moulded heel showing through and the lining is wearing. The new ones are cheerful: dark blue with silver stars. They will make me smile all winter 😊🤩❤️

That sounds like a good solution to the storage unit @Rhyddid2026 - fingers crossed 🤞 the relative agrees and it can all get sorted quickly!
No judgement here about the chicken - I think the temporary storage was a good thing until you had the energy, time and help to deal with it.
I've done some life admin of filing and paid my tax bill from earning too much interest the other year (only £150, thankfully) Also posted some.cheques to DS3's bank and tried (again!) to sort his premium bonds login - hopefully I can get it fully sorted this month, after speaking to a very helpful lady at nsandi today
Also posted another V1nted sale earlier - but still need to list loads of things....
Back to work on Monday (although it's an inset day, so no students 🙂) - I plan on quite an easy day tomorrow ahead of it
Stripped our bed earlier - haven't yet remade it...😱

Really glad to hear you've got an option sorted for all that stuff being gone @Rhyddid2026, hopefully it'll be resolved and done super soonhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

He's finally replied and agreed that the auction house can deal with most of it, but he still wants to be involved. Fair enough but there is a significant time difference soooo....🤷🏻♀️
In other news I've used my new niwaki weeding hoe to weed the big veg bed. It's so sharp! I hadn't realised how dull my old one had become. I do sharpen them but I guess I'm not very good at it. I've covered the bed in fresh compost. Once the chickens have had a good scratch and been put away I'll sow some green manure seeds. I've also sythed some weeds.
I listed 4 items on vnted and one sold before I'd finished listing the others. I really need to go to the shop to post that and the boxes of books from last week but I'm very muddy and it might need to be a job for tomorrow. I'd rather stay home while I'm motivated to do stuff.Debts 04/01/25 01/11/25

How many men does it take to change a lightbulb?Cheery_Daff said:An annoying OAT for me today. One of three dining room light bulbs had gone. Mr C was going to sort it, but hadn't bothered, and I was sick of sitting in the dark, so I finally got round to ordering some more.
Informed Mr C of this - and he pointed out that we had several already in the light bulb collection 😠 So why have we been sitting in semi darkness for weeks??
I have retrieved and installed the darn thing myself, and will add the unnecessary box of six to the light bulb collection once they arrive 🙄
This is why I usually just do stuff myself!
Six apparently (one to hold the bulb and 5 to turn the ladder). Presumably the lack of ladder turners was the reason for sitting in darkness

OAT mission planning in place here:
We've started talking about the various house jobs we want to get sorted, so need to get thinking and check the list that I made before I think.
I'd also like to get the freezers sorted and a longer term meal plan made - although right now just getting a week at a time done is proving effective. We HAVE to eat through some of the stuff lurking now - I've been saying it for a ridiculous amount of time!
I also want to do more in the way of clearing out in the shed - but that might meet resistance from MrEH. A good starting point would be for us to crank up production of the paper bricks ready for fire fuel for the winter months, as that would shift some of the newspaper collection!
The new WM might mean that the autumn/winter weight duvet can be washed - if so, then that's a job for the list. If not, it will go on the bed regardless. the summer one meanwhile can definitely be washed as and when it's taken off the bed!
- Freezer sorting is underway - albeit we added some more bits at the weekend in the shape of stuff brought back from the rather lovely food festival we went to.
- Longer term meal plan was indeed done - and is being well adhered to, I'm pleased to say.
- Some more paper bricks have been done, but I fear we're going to be some way short of a full supply this year, as I can't see they're likely to dry out fully now if we do any more. Not least as I want to remove the plastic cover from the mini greenhouse now, ideally.
- Autumn/winter duvet ended up getting pressed straight into use as I needed it for the spare bed when I slept in there while I had covid.
For the first time in ages this week we have a mostly free weekend so we need to tackle STUFF.
- Add to extended meal plan - another fortnight at least
- Get MrEH to send the email to the allotment chap from the council or just give in and DIMFS.
- Get the cover off the mini greenhouse
- move mini greenhouse frame into the office - maybe we can get away with drying more bricks in there? At the least though it will help the frame not spend all winter getting attacked by the weather, and mean that we can...
- ...get more of the panels sanded and painted on the office wall!
- Strip remaining fruit from tomato plants
- bag up spent tomato plants ready to take to the tip
- strip remaining fruit from pepper plants & compost plants
- Cut runner beans down and remove frames.
- Walk or drive to the community farm to see if they still have their seed swap in place
- Brainstorm about house jobs to be done - remember to list electrical stuff ready to get electrician details from Mum.
- Financial wrangling (needs doing tonight or tomorrow) for end of month.
- Once the online details arrive I need to fund two savings accounts that have been opened for cashback
- once the pin number arrives I need to activate the TSB card
- Once the online details arrive I need to activate the TSB app banking
- Once the online details arrive I need to fund the TSB account - £1k in, then withdraw £850 will meet the requirement AND leave my monthly spends where they need to be.
- Fortnight added to meal plan - AND a note made of the soup I made on saturday for my lunch that I want to make again for both of us at some stage as it was delicious!
- Cover removed from mini greenhouse frame - but annoyingly it split as we were removing it so that's gone to the bin. We do have a second mini greenhouse handily enough (they were bought very reduced when Wilkos was closing down) so that will get dragged out for next year. That one has done two years and has been sitting in a position where it gets water dripping on it a fair bit so we've probably had a fair turn out of it.
- greenhouse frame now installed in the office where hopefully the paper bricks will continue to dry
- tomato plants all stripped down and bagged up
- peppers have been removed but plants currently still in pots as the compost is currently rammed full of...
- runner bean plants all cut down and composted!
- financial wrangling is indeed done, but NO other banking stuff can be achieved at this stage as I'm still annoyingly waiting for paperwork.
Cheers - I feel your pain on the "jobs not done by the person who said they would do them" thing - we had a conversation yesterday along the lines of - me: "have you sent that email about the allotment application?" him "Oh - no - I forgot" me "OK - so are you actually going to do it or should I just deal with it myself" - this was on the basis of him having said repeatedly over at LEAST a fortnight that he was going to do it! I'm pleased to report that it DID get done last night though! (By him!)
New list:
- Add another week at least to the extended meal plan
- Get more of the panels sanded and painted on the office wall if the weather is dry enough!
- See what we can do about re-fixing the bottom panel of the office all which appears to not be fixed currently
- Empty tomato plant pots and retrieve crocks from the bottoms
- Compost pepper plants
- Walk or drive to the community farm to see if they still have their seed swap in place (I could potentially cycle there on Saturday if the weather is good?)
- Brainstorm about house jobs to be done - remember to list electrical stuff ready to get electrician details from Mum.
- Start looking for tester pots of suitable paint colours for the front room
- sand the front room windowsill

We had to have our 20 year old cat put to sleep on Friday. I felt sad when I passed by her old sleeping corner so I changed it into a reading corner instead. Before and after pics. She was a lovely black cat so I put the cushion and the mug there too.❤️
