Brought in some logs. Need to bring in more and also fill the log store on the porch. I'm still burning the stuff I bought in 2023, but really need to clear out the log store and move the stuff from the back of the garden into it so that it's ready for when the 2023 stuff runs out. Some of it will need splitting. Once that's moved, then the newer stuff can be split and prepped for next year and beyond.
I also need to bleed the radiators and be brave and turn the heating on.4 -
A win, verily, I have a win to report!!
After having to delete my car from the company expenses system and input it again (somehow I had set it up as a company not a personal car) I have FINALLY submitted 4 mileage claims for a grand total of £248.68!!
I will have to wait another 2 weeks now, for my boss to return from honeymoon to approve these, but at least they are in the system now and I have been able to clear the related folder of receipts, insurance, MOT and tax documents off my desk!

Well done all round - and especially on that expenses claim KK! At least the issue turned out to be something straightforward even if it was a bit faffy to sort!
One achievement to report here - we've been musing for ages on booking a few nights away between Christmas and new year in the same area that a group of friends of ours will be staying. Having had a look at Airbnb options and budget hotel options, we did some sums and had a pros and cons discussion this morning and have now booked a Lodge of Travel for the 3 nights on a cancellable basis, which at least buys us time to see what else might work. We've booked for a town location meaning that if not spending the evenings with our friends there are plenty of walking distance options for pubs etc. The town has a pub from a chain that offers well priced and generally reliable food, including breakfasts. It worked out at about half the cost that booking an airbnb in the same area would, and although a TL room wasn't our first preference, having talked it through we figure that we're not likely to spend as much on additional food needed as we will save by taking that option, and we're not likely to be spending masses of time in the room anyway. Easy to get to where our friends will be from where we've booked and they will be out and about in any event, free parking, and the hotel is a refurbished one as well which are usually a lot nicer!

Listed an item that I'd been umming and errring about for ages, as I thought I should sell other bits with it. Even if it doesn't sell, always a win to do a tedious listing, and I think a good mental breakthrough to allow myself to list things in ways that I'm comfortable with rather than putting it off waiting to be okay with parting with things I'm not ready tohttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

More decluttering has been done, and today 17 items were Olio'd out of my house.
The mortar on the wall seems to have set despite the drizzle so I did a bit more.
Coops cleaned and sprayed. I don't like using the chemicals but my recent additions seem to be tastier to critters than my previous chickens or my ducks. Hopefully it's just because they were rescued and in a poor state and once they're fully feathered and healthy I won't have to do it.

Ate the pear in my lunch bag that has been there for three days. I'm counting that as a win.7

Turned the heating on. It’s been freezing with trades leaving doors open (and repairing the kitchen door yesterday!), and that’s not helping me get better. The boiler didn’t come on when I turned the hot water on, so I need to keep an eye on that. But it has kicked in with the UFH, which is a relief. I just hope the hot water gets the message.
Ordered a new filter cartridge for my mum’s under-sink water filter in the hope that it will arrive in time for my brother to help me change it.Hoovered and dusted and mopped last night to deal with electrician dust before it got even worse and more depressing. And messaged them this morning to say the switching for the downstairs lights is still problematic.3 -
