Followed up a complaint, which I am not enjoying and was turning into an OAT, but I started so I'll finish as I don't think it's right for companies with power to just wash their hands of the upset their shoddy conduct has caused 💪https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

I'm slipping back onto the thread and hoping that no-one assumes that I've done diddly squat for the last couple of weeks 🙃
anyway today I sorted out presents and cards for 2 October birthdays. Getting the cards sorted early means I can use 2nd class stamps and still be relatively confident that they will arrive on time.
i also paid some money into MrBC's SIPP which will generate £720 from HMRC in a couple of months. I read about it on the pensions board and it's worked for the last 7or 8 years. It works for a particular set of circumstances but worth reading about.
then I stopped my passive aggressive glaring at the very ripe bananas in the fruit bowl and have turned them into a banana, dark choc chip and walnut loaf. Enjoying that now with a cup of tea.
see you all next month!

Some sorting out of firewood and kindling has been done. More needs doing for a more longterm solution.
Dog kongs and lick mats have been done - I had to cook another BNS in order to do it, and am now out of that and bananas, but have enough for a couple of weeks.
One of the cat feeders seems to have stopped noticing that the cat is trying to open it. This could explain some recent tantrums... it's intermittent, but seems to be most of the time now. Luckily Fatty mostly eats all her food in one sitting.5 -
Yesterday we tackled the contents of two boxes from the storeage locker, leaving two more to go. A huge amount left the house in recycling, went into the shredder and half a bin bag was rubbish. I am a keen user of Trash Nothing so it really was rubbish with no value to anyone or I would have passed it on. My favourite was a huge folder of expired computer discs from two decades ago. OH has put lots of cables into his cable stash again but has promised 'to sort them all out soon'.
I've had a flurry of listings on Vinted yesterday and one thing has already sold.
For some reason I'm feeling really low about it all today. I guess it is always quite a lot of work and depressing to tackle stuff I wish I hadn't wasted money on it. Some of the things leaving now were bought during lockdown so I am trying to think kind thoughts to my past self and accept it is all water under the bridge.7 -
No-one came out of lockdown having not wasted money @Wanna_Bee_Free, if making a purchase kept you vaguely sane during insane times then it was money worth spending. If you can get a few quid or even just a clearer home by getting rid of it now then all the better! That sounds like a brilliant sorting sessionhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

I have done very little today but I did finish some cereal in the cupboards that was lurking, and I have got my books read total respectably over a book a week for the year so I'm counting those as winshttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

My lockdown madness was ducks. The coop cost me hundreds and then more hundreds was spent on a walk in run a year or two later. They definitely helped me keep a bit of sanity though!
@Wanna_Bee_Free I'm thinking of tackling a storage unit between now and Christmas as a major OAT. I do not want to take all that with me into 2026.

I agree not to beat yourself up about what you spent. I was thinking how utterly horrendous lockdown was for me the other day. I was stuck indoors as my husband had to work his normal shifts on London Underground and I went stir crazy for the time when you were only allowed out for one hour a day. Thank goodness for my pets as they gave me some structure to my days.3

@Wednesday2000 that sounds horrendous. Glad your pets could take care of you.
Penniesintopounds a book a week is amazing, my challenge this year is 2 a month which I think I will just beat.
I bought weird ring lights for video meetings in lockdown because I hated the way I looked on camera and thought better lighting would help. And a food processor to turn me into a domestic goddess which has just gone to it's new home after cluttering up our galley kitchen. I find these wish fulfilment purchases a mixture of funny and sad.
@rachmac3 we are near the end of tackling a small storeage unit amount which is 35 square feet's worth. Two boxes left now. We tackled the big items like furniture first, selling them on ebay or offering on trash nothing. Some of it went back to it's old spot as we didn't sell the house and were happy to go back to more furniture etc. Then a few boxes came home and got dealt with. Just don't think about the big picture! One box at a time. The good thing is after you haven't seen it for a few weeks decisions are a bit easier.6 -
sneaking back in. Cold derailed progress. Decided to make a list on Wednesday and see what I could tackle. The list is 2 columns and fills an A4 sheet. Yesterday tackled one thing, found the dogs new lot of meds. This took over an hour of searching and finally I rang the vet to explain when midst begging for them to do it again I spied the pot on the dining room table.
This tells me I should add tidying to the master list. Will try to take of one more thing today.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!8
