But the truth remains that ‘fine’ - rightly or wrongly - is a term that the wider general public typically uses/associates with these sorts of cases, and on the Forum we want this board to be as discoverable as possible for those who need its assistance. Most people are unlikely to be typing ‘speculative parking notice’ into a search engine.
Of course, if our veteran Forumites want to politely inform others that ‘fine’ isn’t necessarily the correct term for private parking tickets then that's fine (no pun intended), but please be mindful of your tone as many people are not as well informed about this topic as you are and they’re simply looking for help.
The existing title is perfectly apposite. As MSE JC said: its purpose is to help people find the Board, & ‘fine’ is the word most ordinary people would use in a search.Do judges penalise people for saying ‘fine’ rather than ‘invoice’?It’s hard to understand then, why some “veteran Forumites” feel any need to keep insisting on other, often esoteric, terminology - however politely. Why not just provide some assistance & reassure worried people it’s not a real fine?0 -
