Taking a screenshot of your bank transactions when the app blocks you?

Some times I need to take a screenshot of recent transactions. Some banks allow that but Barclays don't, as well as some others.

Samsung user here so I thought I could get round it by starting up screen recorder & then opening the app - no good, it just makes everything black.

I don't want to have to take a photo of it with my wifes phone & then send the screenshot to myself via WhatsApp but at the moment that's the only workaround I can see.

Is there a way to just grab a shot of recent transactions?

Usually there's a way to save transactions as pdf which does the same thing

Well they did a month or so ago on the iPhone app! No idea about Android.

Otherwise I can't think of anything beyond the suggestions already made.

Isn't that just for statements though?

I was looking at screenshotting transactions that were made this week.

For the most part I don't like banking via apps but for some things I do they're quicker & easier. For what I was looking to do here it's one of those occasions where the app is much handier.

I was accessing my Barclaycard C/C via the Barclays app if that makes a difference.

Anyway, I didn't know if there was maybe another app or settings or whatever that others were aware of that I wasn't.

Looks like that's not the case.

    Thanks anyway.

As @teaselMay states, with some banking apps you can create a PDF of an individual transaction. The option is presented on screen immediately after execution. So if you don't see that option then I guess Barclays app doesn't allow it.

What's wrong with sending the photo via WhatsApp? Your transmission is end to end encrypted.

On my phone, which is Android, you can just press any screen with three fingers at once and it will take a screenshot.  Sometimes a bit of care is required for the finger placement to avoid the open screen recording an action, but that can generally be avoided.
Is that three finger press possible in the app the OP is using?

If it is not possible in the app at full screen, pressing the "home" button on any app makes that app shrink to 2/3rds of the screen.  I would have thought pressing in the space around the app would then take the screen shot.

Maybe but some apps (certainly on an iPhone) can completely block, by design, any way of making a screengrab.

For example, in the iPhone WhatsApp app, you cannot make a screen grab of a "view once only" image attachment. Attempting to do so just brings up a screen saying you can't do it! The Windows WhatsApp program (and I assume from a web browser) will not allow you to even view a "view once" image attachment. It tells you to use a phone if you want to view that image.

Obviously nothing can prevent you from using another camera to photograph the screen!

FYI, RBS (and I presume NatWest) app (Android) allows screen grabs now.  In the past this was not true.

Tried the 3 finger thing. Added a 4th too. Doesn't work for me.

If I can create a pdf then I don't see where the option is.

As for what's wrong with getting another phone.
    Really?

If I can do it on my phone it's open all, press button, done.

To do it on another phone my wife first off has to be at home when I want to do it. Or at my work if I want to do it there.

Then I have to ask if she can just photo this for me.

Get her to take the photo, then send it. Then I've got to go in to WhatsApp & save it.

See how it's a nuisance? Sure not the hardest thing in the world but not ideal either.
