Stormy Weather
Storm Claudia has reached the Shire so It's soggy and grey here - as Jane Eyre says 'There was no possibility of taking a walk that day'. But it's a good opportunity to sit down and take stock.
It's been a month since my last post during which I've been largely preoccupied with the bully builder situation. It seems we're going to have no option but to go to court so I won't be able to say much here until things are resolved. It has all been very stressful and I've had to involve solicitors and the police 😲 The good news is that my legal insurer has accepted my claim and we have now been allocated a solicitor. Their professional checks have been completed and they are now assessing the legal position. We will need to have a 51% chance or greater of winning for them to proceed on our behalf.
It's possible that legal proceedings will start soon so I am now on a mission to get on top of the Christmas preparations so that I can accommodate any legal admin that will be required at short notice. The Littlest Fortunate and parents will be coming to us this year 😁 so I want to make things magical and be able to enjoy the time with them.
So, I'm off to get some chores done. Our box room (which I grandly term my 'Dressing Room') has become a reserve for dust bunnies and spiders plus various and sundry items which don't have a permanent home. It's been neglected for weeks and I'm determined to tackle it today. No time like the present 😁...

Good luck with the insurer. Hope you get support from them. Frustrating for you though.
Good luck clearing the spiders and dust bunnies - they definitely multiply and hop around when we're not looking.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Builder situation sounds very stressful so fingers crossed for going down the legal route. Enjoy your Christmas prep. x6

Gosh, I'm sorry things have gone far enough for you to have to involve the police! How very distressing. I am sure you are dealing with it with calm dignity, as usual, but I'm sorry you're having to deal with it at all xx
Good idea to get ahead of Christmas plans though 😊7 -

The rain from Spain falls mainly in the Shire 😂
Awww 😘 thanks for all the support guys - it's appreciated.
Today has gone to plan 😁 I had a good sort out and clean in the 'dressing room' (although some homeless items have migrated to the landing whilst I decide what to do with them) and a few things have been put in a bag to take to the charity shop. Although I couldn't help thinking that I might have been better off spending my time building an ark! 😂 We've had torrential rain here all day. Not much wind though so I'm thankful for small mercies. Mr F has dug our traditional 'winter canal' 😂 There's a dip in the public road leading to our house and the water pools there before overflowing and running down the side of the house. Mr F makes a small ditch to lead the water away from the brickwork and into the garden. It's become a regular feature each year 😂
We had Leek & Potato Soup for lunch with sourdough bread. There are still lots of potatoes left in the veg patch 🥔🥔🥔 Supper was Aubergine & Butternut Squash Bake made with one of the squash we grew this year (we still have two and a half left to use). We had that with garlic bread and there may have been a bottle of red from the wine rack opened too 🤭
My Christmas prep today was paying the deposit for our Christmas lunch and sending in our menu choices. DiL requested we go out this year as she's never had lunch out on Christmas Day. The Littlest Fortunate will want to stay at home to play with his presents in the future so she wanted to take the opportunity while she could. I'm happy with that as I'll get a break from cooking 😂
Hope you kept your feet dry today.

Good to hear your day has gone to plan! We have had torrential rain here too, and a good deal of very windy wind indeed (being stuck near the top of a hill as we are). Brrr. Neighbour's trampoline is wrapped around a tree in a field but we are otherwise intact, touch wood!
We too create some additional waterworks in the rainy season
Although I imagine ours isn't as smart as yours
In our case, the water trickles down the drive, which is fine, but then creates a little pond right outside the garden gate, making it impossible to get from car to house without either jumping or getting our feet wet. We don't dig through the drive, of course, but we create some elaborate small earthworks to channel the pond out into the fields
Looks a little odd, but as there's only us down here it doesn't really matter! 6 -
Dearest @Fortune_Smiles notvonly lawyers but also the police! Hope you're all OK? I'm sure all will go well and you'll get a just outcome. May I thank you on behalf of a grateful nation for standing up to bullies. Love Humdinger xx
