iWeb Change to Scottish Widows

We can only speculate. There has been a communications failure, IT failure or perhaps both. We do not know. The practical take away is not to be surprised if something goes wrong with changes like this. Remember what happened when Selftrade and II when they changed their systems. Remember what happened to Vanguard's promised delivery dates (more than once). Be prepared.masonic said:GeoffTF said:
I did not see that as a contradiction. Being able to log into and view your existing iWeb account from the SW website might be only the start of the migration to SW. The next step might be changing the banners on the iWeb webpages to SW. A further step might be adding the free regular investing.masonic said:So the contradiction was...Email: "From 18 October 2025 you can log in and view your account(s) on the Scottish Widows website"Website: "From 18 October you'll see IWeb start to move over to Scottish Widows Share Dealing"If that interpretation was correct, then it could have been achieved simply by pointing the link added to the SW website to the existing login URL and updating it later in the process. That hasn't been done, even now. It would have been more helpful to focus on this rather than another email run that will leave some customers uninformed for several more days.Yet the website had a banner for over a week saying we'd be unable to access our accounts until midnight on Sunday, so that contradicted the email promise that we'd be able to login on Saturday however they now are spinning it.This all looks to me like two different groups within the organisation having a different understanding of exactly what was going to happen and when. Customers would have been better informed if the recent emails had not been sent. Those relying only on information on the website have had their expectations managed a lot better and have clearly come to a different view on what was supposed to be happening.0 -
I am taking daily screenshots of my IWeb pf just in case things go awry…1

I think it’s good they realised there was a problem and backed it out. Thank goodness it wasn’t a disaster like TSB managed a few years ago with their migration. What’s poor is the lack of clear communication.tigerspill said:Well the email I received today seems clear. It was in effect an apology that the change over was to happen on 18th, but didnt and they are still working on it.
It seems pretty obvious suggest that all didnt go as planned and that the changes were backed out.
All in all, very poor.5 -
After all this, I am wondering what we will actually be provided with. Will the new SW website actually look and function like something of this decade, or will it just be iWeb with nothing more than superficial colour/ font changes and perhaps a picture or two of fairly attractive looking widows from Scotland for good measure?Beyond the iWeb landing page, nothing under the bonnet has been updated in any way for years. Since hearing about the migration I've felt some optimism that, on eventually logging in to the new SW site when it finally arrives, we will be presented with an enhanced and more slick operation. If it ends up being the same as iWeb it will feel very much like a lot of fuss over a non-event.1

There will be an app, so that will be new. I'm not expecting much change from the website. It was always supposed to be the Value range of the HSDL offerings.1

I'm hoping (but not optimistic) that the SW website and/or app might display the dirty price of ILGs instead of the clean price which iweb does. I did quite like iweb's old site, it worked perfectly.

Was pretty straightforward website, rather hoping they resist the temptation to 'enhance' it.masonic said:There will be an app, so that will be new. I'm not expecting much change from the website. It was always supposed to be the Value range of the HSDL offerings.
Me too - I like the simple, straightforward no frills IWeb website; I find it a lot easier on the eyes and brain of this simple soul.2 -
Does any provider currently do that? Agree it would be nice.hallmark said:I'm hoping (but not optimistic) that the SW website and/or app might display the dirty price of ILGs instead of the clean price which iweb does. I did quite like iweb's old site, it worked perfectly.1 -
AJ Bell has done so since I complained years ago. HL gives correct valuations on its quarterly statements, but not online (but it does have a well hidden footnote saying that valuation does not include indexation). With HL, you get to speak to a dealer for ILG trades (at the online price), and can trade conventionals online. HSDL is behind the curve here. Perhaps they will do something if enough people complain.masonic said:
