MouldyOldDough said:The new tariff is considerably more expensive than Fixed August 2024 !!!I thought that prices were dropping ??20242025Cap July 1st 2024 - £1568 - iinfluence by pricing in the Q2 - so ahead of your fix.Cap July 1st 2025 - £1720Down from Q2 at £1849 - so they have fallen from winter levels - but their nowhere near as low as last summer post crisis low when you last fixed - they were creaping back up.And as you were fixing, energy rates bouncing back again - so Q4 cap 2024 (Oct) - £1717 - which is roughly where we are now.Although the balance of SC vs unit rates has changed from me over 10p per day lower SC in last 6m. So its not going to follow the cap the same for everyone.0

Out of the four Aug tariffs that came out, v4 was actually the cheapest.
Then on Friday Octopus suddenly switched back to v1.
When @MouldyOldDough said they couldn't see how to do it online, they were told the best way to get a tariff change was to phone up.
Don't know if they did or sent an email.0 -
Wholesale prices came down towards the end of last week, so it might be worth waiting for the next one.0

This is why it is always best to email.
They will honour the switch if that tariff was available at the time you sent the email. If they put you on a different tariff to the one you request then you have legitimate grounds to complain. Phone and you have no record of what was actually requested unless you record the call. Always use email when you can as it lays a trail of evidence in case of mistakes and disputes. Octopus are usually fast to respond to email too.

There is no "applying", you click on accept, you either immediately move to that tariff if out of contract or it starts at the end of your current fixed term. There is no application period, you get the V.# that is live at the time you click on the button. Then why have I been given V4 ?When I clicked the button - it was either V1 or V2 -Which is noticeably less expensive than V40 -

Also Octopus record all calls.
I don`t disagree about using emails as long as you make it very clear the exact tariff you want to switch to.0 -

You must give them a chance to sort it out.0
