you give so much of yourself to your dad & sis that you can feel comfortable that you don't need to buy them treats as well.

I agree that planning better can help save money. I've leaked money lately because we've ended up being out and about at lunchtime and find ourselves buying lunch. I'm good at taking water with me and our flasks serve us very well but dealing with snacks and food is definitely work in progress.

I hope that your or OH found a job soon. Maybe some seasonal work might start recruiting soon?

That sounds like a good plan and well done for reviewing and getting a grip. But definitely don't beat yourself up for having a period where you had to prioritise surviving each day and getting what needed to be done, done.

I bet you can make a great dent in that £148 with some vinteds and surveys.

Seconding @Blackcats on the job situation. Worth checking if royal mail has any Christmas temp jobs coming up? Or anywhere that has a local warehouse like a football team, where they'll need pre-Christmas staff for packing gift orders?

Elsien thanks for the repair cafe idea as well as the seasonal jobs suggestion Blackcats and PiP.

OH decided to give me an extra £350 which covered the cc balance money and I am eking out to the end of the month. £20.86 in interest. Very depressing I got out of control. I think it feels like I have gone back to my student days when my parents would repay my overdraft. OH and I struggle to only spend essentials but I have done well since my last post.

OH is learning a new technical area in preparation for the third stage. He doesn't yet know he has got through after the second but is doing his best anyway.

Poor mood and feeling low this week. I have a big list of things I ought and want to do but feeling no motivation.Everything I have done has not worked. I tried to sew more of the bag for my friend but had thread spaghetti. I planted lots of the bulbs from the MSE offer but the squirrels have dug up most of them. Our neighbour hand feeds them so I really thought they'd be too full. They are also putting random holes in the lawn.

What went well? We won the quiz on Tuesday and I was the only person who knew some answers which always feels good. The scales are going in the right direction again I was looking at the weight gain times earlier in the yesr and it look me far too long to work out that it was when my father went into intensive care. I have nearly got rid of that extra hospital weight gain :) I am having more No Spending days and have done well out of Prolific I managed to mend the opening on our duvet cover - some successful sewing at last!

Today's plan is pass on social services finance request to my father's care agency, do my back exercises and at least try to sew more of the bag, even if it is spaghetti again.

Also two of Little Sis items sold on vinted and the stuff that didn't sell on ebay went on the local free listing site so a box of stuff was saved from the tip.

Sounds like you're doing very well to me! Cut yourself some slack, you've been going through insanely stressful and demanding times. Good to get focused again but really, you're doing great 🍻

Thanks PiP, such a lovely thing to say.

In a moment of craziness I just decided to request my interest back from the credit card company via Chat because I've been a loyal customer for years. Surprisingly they agreed as I recall another interest refund 3 or 4 years ago. So I haven't paid any credit card interest after all and that's £20.89 winging it's way back into my bank account. I'm so delighted by this it is ridiculous!!!

you are doing far better than you give yourself credit for.

I had a ball of wool that was doing a great impersonation of spaghetti. It was a giant 400g ball too. I contacted the company and they sent me a new ball which I thought was good service. I've since unravelled the first ball too. That's going to be a big blanket 😱

Well done on the credit card interest refund. That £20.89 is a significant win for you.
