I had a whole heap of issues last time I tried to switch. Just wouldn't accept my ID. Had to go branch. Still wasnt allowed an account. I am a firm believer they have an issue in their systems that if you have ever switch away from them, they keep you in their systems. So when you apply for a new account it blocks you.
I will try again anyway this time around, although I have tried to get a barclays account for the last 3 years and they have rejected me. What's funny is they accepted my application for a Barclaycard! But thats a different app, so I assume a different system.
Has anyone switched away from Barclays and attempted to open a new account with them after?

If you just switched away but now want to switch back and use them, you should be ok but whatever anyone else did or didn't do is largely moot as each application is unique and Barclays won't, for example, change their minds if they reject you just because someone else did it successfully, equally if someone else was rejected it doesn't mean you will beSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

My husband is doing the switch but won't start it until the DD's have debited his Natwest acc, as he's only just moved them. As he's opened the account today, but can't start the switch until the 10th August as payments won't debit till the 11th due to the weekend. So when Barclays contact on the 11th/12th the DD's will show, as Natwest doesn't show DD's online/app until the first payment has been claimed (not sure if a request was received from Barclays before being claimed if Natwest will forward the info over).
Does anyone know/have experience if the 'within 30 days' includes the 30th day? As 30 days should be the completion date of the 19th August. I've googled meaning of 'within' and they all imply by the end of the 30th day.0 -

Clearly in common with many others both myself and my wife have been invited to arrange a branch appointment as couldn't successfully do ID on the app for god alone knows what reason. I've realisedhowever that as we have a joint buy to let mortgage with Barclays we may be able to connect through that so I'm now waiting for a login number through the post.0
