Parking Code of Practice Consultation 2025 - now let's see what happens
Comments

Well they've already said the Code and a response to the Public Consultation will be published in the Autumn. It will be, I hear.
Significant work continues.
And I will soon know who the responsible Minister is and will share that as soon as I can.

Sue Davies, Which? Head of Consumer Protection Policy, said:
“The government must act now to scrap the current ineffective industry code of practice and replace it with a stronger, robust government-backed private parking code as required in legislation. Ministers should ensure this caps parking charges at a fair level, limits the ability of firms to impose debt recovery fees on consumers, improves clarity and prominence of signage and introduces a single, independent appeals body.”
Govt to tell us how they will act in the Autumn...not much longer to wait to see if it's a 👍 or 👎

Is this another "in due course" ?
I understand that if an operator flouts the new code, they will be banned from getting data from the DVLA and there will be a fully independent appeals servce which will get rid of POPLA and the IPC

There was a guy from the RAC on BBC Radio 4 "You and Yours" an hour or two ago talking about PPCs and how it was about time that the Govt brought their COP into force.
R4 said that tomorrow's phone-in is going to be on the topic of PPCs, which might be worth listening to (or calling in to, if you've got any strong opinions on the topic 😉)
Edited to add the BBC Sounds programme link. The PPC discussion begins at 21:30.

Movement? It seems the CoP will be tabled without much warning or fuss and becomes law 40 days later unless challenged. And the end result may be ironclad to avoid any repetition of 2002. We can but hope.

Hopefully the wishy-washiness of some of that is a sop to the PPCs and any CoP will be quite brutal.
3 -
If it is challenged, there is every chance. what will government do about these rogue traders?
Will it then be up to the CMA TO CRACK DOWN ON THEM
