Yes...pity it wasn't one of the MPs with extensive knowledge of PPCs practices and contributed to the last parliamentary debate on CoP…like Baggy Shanker, Lola McEvoy, Abtisam Mohamed, Catherine Atkinson.

    New minister:

    AI view

    Key Issues & Challenges

    • Local Authority Financial Sustainability
    • The Housing Supply Crisis
    • Building Safety & Fire Democracy

    Opportunities to Shine

    • Leveraging her own Council Experience:
    • Driving Devolution
    • Tenant Rights and Leasehold Reform

    Potential black holes include:

    1. The Local Government Section 114 Deficit "Black Hole"
    2. The Cladding & Building Safety Remediation Bog
    3. Spiralling Temporary Accommodation Costs
    4. Wider Government Instability & Churn

Private Parking - expectation that the existing MHCLG policy direction will be maintained ie Autumn delivery of CoP. Given the current environment I guess she will not be driving much parking activity that isn't already on the slipway.

I tend to agree but you can bet the dark side's finest suits will be contacting her with scaremongering carmageddon.

Having run a London Council I fear she'll fall for it

@Coupon-mad, the times they are a-changing. You may well have another minister to deal with before this one gets to grips with anything...

That's very true. Reshuffle likely IMHO.

I agree, there is something seriously wrong with the MHCLG who have failed to protect the public from this UK wide money scam

It was last year when they said "in due course" …… it is not rocket science to stop a scam unless they are scared of another JR, no wonder people will vote in a different direction

I don't feel they fear another JR. I think they fear immense criticism from the public if Govt CoP doesn't do want they promised - protect motorists from harm caused by the practices of the private parking sector.

MHCLG have to publish a report on the responses they received to the consultation. It's months overdue. The longer they withhold it the more nervous I become and I can't rid my mind of thoughts that MHCLG are maybe trying to accommodate what this sector wants instead of what the evidenced responses showed.

The issue is: all we know about this new minister is what we saw already: she used to run a council where she supported & pushed the moneymaking rip-off of LTNs. She doesn't seem to have any track record in understanding the utter scam of the parking industry.

However, Alex Norris MP was - IMHO - awful (came across like a clone of Gove) and I met him in person. So he is no loss to this project.

It will be announced in the Autumn, reply to consultation responses plus laying the Code.
