Money Moral Dilemma: Should I pay half the parking 'fine' my husband got giving my parents a lift?

Your husband was doing your parents a favour (probably repaying the many they probably did in the past). Why involve you in all this?
If your husband is such a wet lettuce as to not go into the surgery to challenge it himself (his fine) and then to have the temerity to ask YOU to challenge it or even to pay half, then are you sure you want him for a husband?!!0 -
Sounds like he's bitter about being asked to help with your parents.
Pay the whole fine, ditch the husband.0 -
Seen a version of this before.
Driver is always responsible for paying fine in full or challenging.0 -

I cannot believe all this long winded discussion about issues that are nothing to do with the problem of fighting a scam parking charge, please note people it isn't a "fine" even the OP knew it was an invoice. The only moral dilemma really is; the husband has caused this and dropped it in the lap of the OP by driving her car, so her dilemma is should she name him as driver and wash her hands of the problem, or continue fighting as keeper? The advice from @Le_Kirk above is the route to take forget about all the infighting!5

He'll have to be the one to challenge it as he was driving and I think he should challenge it. But if he's unsuccessful I think it's only fair to split the fine. After all he was doing you and your parents a favour!0

Your husband says challenge it or pay half the invoice. Good luck with the challenge. It reads to me like he's happy to pay half the invoice anyway.0

The only 'money moral dilemma' is whether to fund a rogue industry by paying such tickets for convenience. My response would be, he was the driver, his responsibility, up to him to sort it out (or to ignore it.) Nothing to do with his wife, or with who was a passenger.
As its her car she is the one who has to deal with it - if she doesn't and just ignores it she could end up with a CCJ.
She can challenge it, or name her husband as driver who can then challenge it. Any suggesting of paying, whether by herself, her husband or her parents is funding a morally bankrupt money making company.4 -
What kind of relationship do you have?
Terrible.
The best way is to challenge it.0 -
Half_way said:The correct answer is not to pay the parking charge if issued on private land do not pay the scammers.Instead you read up on the advice on this forum ad see the thing off.You then tell all the others in the car, friends etc about this scam and this forum and how to beat them. The only moral issue would be if you are stupid enough to pay, and then you are helping the parking industry to prey upon the vulnerableJust as an aside, our company car policy says this:You must:
• pay for all parking fines, fees or penalties, speeding fines, bus lane fines and any other fines
issued to you during the term of the Agreement relating to the Vehicle or your use of the
Vehicle including those which result from motoring offences, violation or traffic or parkingregulations;
If you do not pay these amounts then we will pay them on your behalf and we willrecharge this cost to you together with an administration fee of £10 plus VATSo your information isn't quite correct.0
