Has anyone figured out the definitive answer to the 'how do I drive my car to be repaired while under a stop drive order' yet? Seems the driver is bearing a little too much legal responsibility for a problem that began all the way back in 2013 - Surely the recall process should be operating like clockwork by now. lol !

The problem is availability of spares and just how many vehicles are involved - Do the need 10, 1,000 or 100,000

Next of course the Do Not Drive Order. Cannot recall ever seeing a vehicle recall with that condition applied.

I had heard they are sending out RAC mobile mechanics (with the relevant part, once available) to fit the new airbag.

It has been said that they are  recovering the car on a transproter, they are sending RAC mobile mechanics  to repair at hoome and  that an  insurance company has said they will cover the car to be driven to the gargae for repair.

You could check with your insurance company and the garage your repair is booked with.

I drive a Citroen DS3. On 1 July, when I received my red recall letter, I went straight from having a car that I take care of and that is serviced and MOT’d every year to a car I now can’t use - up until then, there was nothing showing for my vehicle.

I tried to register on the official recall site, but the process failed halfway through. When I went back to try again, it said I was already registered. I’ve had no contact since, so I have no idea if I’m actually on a list or not.

I also filled in the local recall form at my Citroen garage on 1 July. I got an automated email saying they’d be in touch within 2 to 5 working days. I heard nothing, so I rang them again on 10 July. The person I spoke to was sympathetic but said they’re getting no useful updates from Citroen. Sometimes they get sent one airbag, sometimes 30. As soon as they get stock, they try to call people and book them in. He also said the DS3 airbags are especially hard to get hold of.

I’ve registered with the RAC site as well, but again - just an automated response and nothing else.

I even emailed Citroen to ask whether any compensation was available. They just replied with a generic message telling me to call the number (0800 9179 285) everyone keeps getting disconnected from, or where no help is given.

I love my DS3, but I can’t keep waiting with no clue what’s happening. I understand there are supply issues, and I know the local garage is doing what it can, and totally respect that, but a vague idea of when to expect something - even just an estimated month - would make a huge difference. Right now, it seems like some people are being seen within days and others are being told 2026. It’s impossible to plan.

I’m disabled and haven’t been well. A taxi to medical appointments costs me £20 each way, so the £22 per day compensation doesn’t cover it - assuming that's even a thing, because there are mixed messages out there about that too.

At this point I feel totally let down. I can't be without a car. Unless something changes by the end of the month, I think I’ll have no choice but to scrap the car and buy something else - and I’ll do everything within my power to make sure it has no links to Stellantis or Takata.

On another forum, someone rang Esure and reckons that their car is still insured to drive.

('d double check though, in case they didn't mention the end of the sentence, like "only directly to a booked appointment at a garage to have the work carried out")

Can only go on what I was told. They were very direct on the phone. Have to have an appointment to drive it to. And I got them to triple check my car been on the main road outside my house as I have no where to store it. Very stressful!

Those waiting on a date- try DS Stenallis dealerships. They will try and upsell but I just said look im not interested and just need the recall doing. ( Health check, coolant, wash and hoover etc) I know there is one in Manchester and Leicester, also Bristol. I got a date on 19th August. Perrys just put me on a ‘list’ and said they would order the part. No idea where I am on this so-called list.

Did this because someone of tik tok did so and got a July date.

I phoned Stellantis booking line 02476851400 and got booked in straight away. I had a booking at Stellantis Sheffield at 12.30 on the 17th and had to cancel so if anyone wants that one phone the number above, it should still be available. They seem to have a lot of availability around the Nottingham/Leicester area when I spoke to them so if you are stuck give them a call, hope you can get booked in.

Just phoned my insurance company up (Esure) they very reassuringly advised me that I am still insured to drive my Ds3 as normal.  Spoke to a lady at Keighley Citroen , earliest date is 3rd September for the repair ,  when my car goes in for its MOT next week the airbag fault will come up as an 'advisory ' . It will not fail its MOT just for that. .  .

A quick google of the number given in the post above (almatty47) brings up warnings of it being a potential scam number.  I have reported the post accordingly, could be wrong but moderators can check.

I've been given this number by a Citroen dealership who booked me in for repair in September  :(
Also stated they are Citroen approved.

I haven't read all this thread and it's taken me a while to sort this but the dealership also told me I can claim up to £22 per day in 'reasonable expenses' while I'm waiting for the replacement. Has anyone else mentioned this?

I asked why Citroen haven't made this known to affected drivers, was told "I don't know'

I've been sent a document to accept the terms and conditions by email - apparently a claim can only me made from the date of the acceptance email to the date of the repair.
