Im in the same boat. Im currently stranded 180 miles from home with a car and caravan that i cant get back. This lovley trip has and fault is costing me thousands!

Breakdown will not collect the car to get it home, local garages are on a 6week waiting list, and i cant leave them unattended in n the site so i cant get back home on the train and leave them.

Dealership will not help, Citroen will not help. Neither will collect or provide curtesy car.  I have to be off this site by Friday or risk impounding both and fines.  Im going to be £900 out of pocket to just to get the car home and potentially hire a car to move the caravan or pay another £800 to have Someone tow it for me just to get it home from what was meant to be a really relaxing holiday. 😣

im no longer insured and have been informed that as i am legally obligated to ensure the car is safe on the road DVSA could fine over 2k and issue a driving ban if i choose to ignore the stop drive order and drive it. Not that i would want to risk driving it now, or drive a car when my insurance is now not covered to drive it.

Im stranded & potentially £1,800 out of pocket not to mention the days work & appointments ive missed trying to sort.

    Its an absolute nightmare.

When did you buy the car and is the V5 in your name and address? When you bought it, did you check for active recalls?

They better get my jail cell ready. My car is my lifeline. I need it to get to work and back. Bus and trains will add 3 hours to my working day where I’m on my feet all day. I’ve already had to cut back my hours as I am depressed. Just lost a parent to dementia after caring for them for the last 10 years. I suffer from exhaustion already and other health conditions. I only drive just under 5k miles a year.

Car hire is a minimum of £35 a day. £22 is not gunna cut it. I don’t have the funds to pay now and get back later- maybe some of it. It’s all just ridiculous.

How come is suddenly dangerous. When it was first recognised they did nothing. Should have been stock piling the parts then!

Unless you bought the car direct from Citroen (which is very unlikely), then you have no rights to enforce against them.  They are making you a goodwill offer.  You can accept it or not.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Sounds like they will collect your car, so that's good. People were wondering how to get it to the service centre.

If it helps anyone. Hastings insurance will cover car driven to the garage for repair. Also if your car is parked outside on the main road. It’s just not insured if you drive it.

On another forum, someone rang Esure and reckons that their car is still insured to drive.

('d double check though, in case they didn't mention the end of the sentence, like "only directly to a booked appointment at a garage to have the work carried out")
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
