Money Moral Dilemma: Should we change the way we split holiday costs now my partner has passed away?

After being single for quite a long time after I got divorced I met someone when we were in our 40s. I was impressed how much further our money went.  When we retired a few years ago we had 2 state pensions and 3 small works pensions between us.  It makes a huge difference.

The fair thing would be accommodation 50/50 and the rest per person. Reason is properties are priced by the room while flights, tickets, food increases per person. 

If you're struggling from an income perspective and the friends are happy to subsidise to enjoy the same type of trip with you, then maybe they'll be willing to meet somewhere in the middle. But that doesn't mean you can demand it.

As a single this affects more than just an hotel room.
I would expect to pay for my room but then comes meals. If you take it in turn to pay the couple only have to pay for one other but you have to pay for two. Same with drinks out and so forth.

You now have to think this through about how you wish to proceed and what you would be happy with.
Perhaps you would like the first holiday to be as it was for comfort and security. They may not feel as comfortable with a single they feel they must look after or they may be fine with that.

It's something you need to decide what would suit you and then, without mentioning that, discuss it with them and see how they feel.
Then be quite open with each other and see how it stands.

It's tough to start with because it's so different being a single traveller as I found but it does have its advantages.
There are group singles holidays which may be an option. They can be fun if you like the company and help you get used to your new status.
