Sorted out a new policy for my dad's home insurance. I went through £co so when the cashback is paid I'll get us fish and chips for tea as a nice way to enjoy "free" money.
however, it is fiendishly difficult to not have his current policy auto renew. I think I'll have to wait til Monday and talk to a human. So the task is really only half done but at least it's underway ahead of schedule.

Downstairs loo cleaned (ran out of time yesterday).
Tree peony which is overhanging the path and wets our legs whenever we need to get past it after rain, finally chopped back! Finally finished clearing the bindweed from the cut flower bed and hacked back the chicory that I still haven’t managed to get rid of from there.Cleared weeds from the new ornamental bed.Collected seeds of yellow rattle (a reasonable amount), opium poppy (lots!) and chive seeds (not as many as I hoped, left it too long).A productive day 😊

Always feels good turning admin tasks into free fish & chips 😄 if you're ever comparing cashback offers again, I like using comparison sites like CashbackHQ -- I’ve found some great rates there.
Fingers crossed for a smooth call on Monday — those auto-renew traps are the worst. And congrats to your friends on the move! Must feel like a huge relief after all that waiting.2 -
@dragonfire5566 - thank you for your post. You reminded me to slow down on relentlessly trying to tick a task off the list and getting irritated when there are several facets to the task. I paused and reflected that it is indeed a good thing to turn admin into free fish and chips. My dad is 97 and really enjoys a fish and chip tea together. Thank you again!
whilst I was making apple and foraged blackberry crumble MrBC has finished the last fence panel on one side of the garden. I don't think he has ever categorised it as an OAT but it's been blooming annoying me for 2 weeks 🙃4 -
Hi @dragonfire5566, welcome to MSE and the thread. Please make sure to mention in your posts that you run the company you're recommending as most people won't have seen that. Hope you're having a lovely and mse day 🙂1

Heard bleeping this morning - C0 alarm fault light flashing. Turns out it says replace by 2021... so am cross with a. my vendors for not replacing it, b. the chimney sweep for not noticing as he's supposed to check - particularly when installing the new stove, c. the decorator for putting it back up and not mentioning it.
I need to get hold of the electrician to see whether we can install a mains-powered C0/Fire alarm in it's place and also replace the three battery smoke alarms with mains ones connected to the other two mains ones.
Have done lots of weeding/hacking back in the veg plot, but was stopped by rain.
Did the mowing yesterday.4 -
Did some deadheading in the garden before it got too hot.Been deadheading the streptocarpus around the house, been needing doing for a while.Hold the front page:
I HAVE MADE A START IN THE OFFICE! 🎊🥳🎉🤩👏😊😂
Finally …. 🙄
All paper is up off the floor, a stack has gone to recycling, a whole heap of incomplete good intentions have been found of various types (some will become prospective OATs), I have three recipes to bring downstairs and put in my folder and three pieces of project structuring from the crazy job to take into work with me 😊
My aim, by end of play today is to have the ‘desk’ (piece of worktop on low filing units) clear from end to end (there is stuff on the back of it, but that’s fine 😊).I have spent some small monies today - ordered a vertical storage system for our two laptops so it makes it easier for both of us to share the space. That will come out of my ‘miscellaneous house’ pot. I have saved delivery costs by having it sent to a drop off place rather than delivered. Should be ready to pick up on Wednesday which is fine 😊
