Online Passport renewal - impressed with the speed

Options
From start to finish, it was five days.........so I'm impressed with the speed.

I applied online on Tuesday 27th May. I used the photo booth (Tesco) to obtain the photographs and code. I posted my current passport to HM Passport on the same day.

On Thursday 28th HM Passport texted to advise they'd received my old passport.

This morning, Saturday 31st May, my new passport was delivered to my home.

I hope others have the same experience. Happy holidays folks!

Regards

Nile

I had the same experience 18 months. It's a very smooth process now.

Good to hear but what will the Daily Mail write about write about this year.

Passport issuing delays have been an annual staple to moan and report on for years.  No photograph for a family posing with their best Compo faces who risk missing their fortnight in a Turkish 4*** All-Inclusive because they only applied for one of the kids passports 5 days before the holiday.

Such Government department efficiencies should not be tolerated.

Excluding the peak of Covid the passport service has always been fairly good when it goes right... when it goes wrong though it tends to go very wrong and its a pain trying to sort it out
  • This was my experience too. Used the Photo Booth in Boots on a Tuesday and received the code. Sent online application the same day. Daily texts to inform me how things were progressing. The new passport arrived the following Saturday morning.

Me too & I purchased mine in April this year. I would imagine that many will leave it until the last minute so it will probably take a longer as we approach the major school holiday period.

We took the pictures ourselves against a light wall. Online application accepted the uploaded photo, no idea if there's another approval process after submission but all was good, so saved money there
