  • Many ebay traders have other jobs and families to take care of, so time is precious. I think the seller was harsh but, as a seller myself, I do understand the frustration of unreasonable questions - and I do think questioning a seller's pricing is a no no. And asking how the bras fit - how should she answer that exactly? Granted the OP may not have worded it quite like that but, really, if she did, then it was a dumb question. For a lot of sellers also, the pre-Christmas run-up is a big frenzy. Yes I do think the seller went a bit OTT but really buyers need to respect that answering questions is time consuming so put some thought into it.

I have been selling on ebay since 2001 and so I'm no newbie to this game. I am often shocked by the rudeness and bluntness of questions I receive. No please, no thank you, written in "text speak". If I don't like the look of someone's question then I will just delete it - sorry but that's the way it is; I'm a successful seller with 100% feedback (sales in the thousands) and I would rather lose a sale than deal with unnecessary rudeness (I'm not saying the OP was rude at all - I'm just saying I do get a lot of rude questions asked).

I think it's time for buyers to go on strike, teach these arrogant sellers a quick lesson, WE are the ones in charge as WE have the money you want.

Any seller who blocks me will quickly find themselves named everywhere with a call to boycott them, I'll hit the arrogant tw@ts right where it hurts.

Louise, I too think you perhaps made a mistake asking about the pricing.

I would have worked out what I wanted, calculated the best way of buying that from their listings and then either put in a bid or possibly sent an email along these lines.

“Hi, I would like to buy X, Y and Z from you. Will you accept a total of £XXX for this including postage?”

Finally, although they have implied that you are barred from bidding, did they actually do it? If you still want to buy, you could try bidding and see what happens.

Or you could send a polite and slightly grovelling email saying that you are sorry your question may have been misunderstood or badly worded and that you are keen to buy under the 7 day guarantee. Tell then that you do have 100% feedback and are not messing round and are a serious buyer.

Even if you feel that you have done nothing wrong, a smile and an apology often works wonders.

    Good luck. :)

couldnt agree more, there really isnt much time in the life of a busy ebayer for bull$hit questions, get to the point, what do you want, how much will you pay.

I have to agree. Without buyers ebay is nothing and I feel you must be fair to all buyers, not just the ones with small breasts.

Goldspanners, if you have that attitude, I am surprised you sell much.

In class I try to teach manners and respect for each other, and they will be returned. If my past few days experience is anything to go by in terms of today's etiquette, I should be teaching the world is screw or be screwed!!

Obviously at 26 I must still be living in the 1940's in terms of my attitude towards the world. Must take off my rose tinted specs every now and again!!

I feel that I am beyond that now, if they want to rip off customers that is their business, but I am now not willing to become one of their customers, I am just miffed that they have banned me when I have not done anything wrong, by e-bay's rules.

I'm fair to all ebayers with breasts ;)

You do get silly/rude questions though typed up in txt spk, and likewise you get some really friendly ebayers. You just have to bite your tongue for the bad ones though :p
  • I am a seller on ebay. I sell vintage and new clothes mostly and am always getting asked loads of what may seem 'useless' questions about fit etc but to the potential buyer, they are important. I always try to answer as honestly as possible - e.g. by giving extra measurements. One person asked me if a skirt I was selling was suitable for an Xmas party, for example - I had to reply that I thought it was a little too casual for that and so she didn't buy it, but then I would rather happy, and REPEAT, customers, than ones I had hoodwinked.

People DO question pricing, postage etc, and can get funny. I had one girl email me 3 times in 2 days to request immediate return feedback. I was away as my Gran was dying and I had to get to her bedside and returned to find a message saying this girl was going to buy from me again but now wouldn't as I couldn't 'be bothered' to leave feedback for buyers. I replied and said I was sorry she felt that way, I'd been with a dying relative and usually did feedback in batches and nobody else had ever complained, then thanked her for her purchase. No need to be a snotty seller, even if the buyers are...

If a seller can't be arsed to give good customer service, then I won't buy from them. I try to give my customers good service and have genuinely happy repeat customers and 99.8% positive feedback (had one neg ages ago from a new buyer who negged me for something she didn't like even though she could have had a refund if she'd asked, but you live & learn...) and have never got shirty with buyers even though some of them can be a bit difficult at times.

Banning you for querying something, to my mind, is bonkers!
  • Seller was rude, and their behaviour was inexcusable. Surprised to see so many people defending it.

Buyer was also a bit rude though to ask why different sizes were different prices, so it sounds like a bit of a problem on both sides.
