@Newcad Thanks I'm guessing when the rent goes up next April I send a journal entry to the money option & say the rent has gone up by so much?.

They will check with your landlord anyway each year as you are in social housing 😊

I have had my your IR ESA allowance payments will end letter. Saying I will have one more payment that's already gone in. And they have received my U/C claim.

And that if I get HB and council tax reduction they will write to me  :)

It's usually just Housing Benefit telling you your housing benefit has migrated to Universal Credit; if your council tax is no different, you won't hear until next April. They all communicate through the Atlas portal. In the long run, you probably will have less to show your council.

You do usually get a letter about Cuncil Tax after a migration to UC. but of course it depends on the council.
On IR ESA you are automatically "passported" to full CT reduction, but when you migrate to UC that passporting no longer applies and the council has to do an income calculation instead.
That calculation should then prompt  letter saying what the calculation result is - and yes if your council is a stingy one with a low income limit then you may have to pay a few quid of CT after migrating.

I've had two letters from the council today.

    Notification Of Housing Benefit

Your housing benefit has been reassessed because your U/C award has changed however the benefit you receive has not changed and your benefit will continue to be £xx.xx

    How you will be paid.

Your payments of housing benefit have been suspended because of a change that may affect the amount of benefit you get.

    Your council tax Support

I have worked out your council tax support again because your U/C award has changed. However this has not changed, your benefit remains as follows £xx.xx

    YAY  :D

    Second letter says

    Housing Benefit

DWP have told them that I have applied for U/C. The housing benefit has been cancelled from 22/05/2025. They say I can have a two week run on which I've already had.

The HB is paid up to 08/06/2025 there is an over payment of £XX.XX for the period 05/06/2025 to 08/06/2025 which may be recovered from your future U/C element.

If you receive help with your council tax this will be reassessed once I have received confirmation of your first U/C payment.

Both letters are from the same dept but written by two different people. According to the second letter the CT tax shouldn't have been worked out yet because I haven't had the first payment of U/C but the first letter has done it already. I will stick with the first letter  :)

What was the difference between the dates of the letters? You could ring them to confirm it, but keep everything anyway, but it should be after the first UC payment to establish if your council tax will remain unchanged or you might need to pay something. It just depends on the council budgets and rules. You can also confirm your last payment with your landlord. 8/6/25 was yesterday so probably paid today.

The first letter I opened was the 02/06/2025. The second letter was the 03/06/2025. I looked up on my local council the rules they are going by for U/C council tax & it says if you don't have a job you don't have to pay anything so I "think" paying nothing is correct.

The council can confuse themselves in a phone box  :)

Have you had anything on payments regarding what UC will pay regarding rent payments yet? If they're being paid directly to you or your landlord.

No I've not had anything on U/C saying what they will pay yet, but the council says I will get the same as now. And when I done the phone call to verify my identity he asked me then do I want to set up a different payment so the rent money goes to the HA I said no, because I have to pay for one bedroom every week anyway so I'm having the rent paid to me.
