Wow and I mean WOW between us on this thread we have paid an extra £10,922.50 off our combined mortgages so far this month.

I think that is a great acheivement and well worthy of a round of applause for bellsbells for pulling us together. :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

Here's hoping that we can keep it going and deny the lenders all that extra interest.

Woohoo - that is fantastic! Many thanks Torbrex for doing the maths on this one:T

  • Final chance for Jan totals!
I will be clearing the first post ready for Feb totals tomorrow evening (1st Feb) so if any of you want to add Jan overpayments please PM me before tomorrow night. I will quote the first post so we can keep a record of Jans totals. I am guessing that if I quote the first post it will stay as is, or will it change when I update it to Feb.......hummmm I better check!

    hi all

been a little while since i have posted as have been away for wok

stil tonight i got the confirmation letter from the nationwide that they are reducing the term on our mortgage (asked for this to purposely increase the mortgage taken and still give room for the £499 overpayments) and so it feels like we are now really serious about making a dent in this

the term is now reduced to 12 years and 6 months and even thought this is a relatively big reduction down from 18 years i am already itching to see it come down to less then ten - this site is in my blood now :D

well done to everyone for a great month

bellsbells have pm'd you with the total paid for january and once again thank for all your hard work in co-ordinating

    :T
  • Hi everyone,
I'd like to join too please if its not too late.
    My target: 5000 this year
    Total so far: 1, 132

Might have to starve my family but hey, we'll all benefit in the long run. Hee hee! Gone down to the real basic no frills food at Morrisons/tescos but cooking from scratch really helps. Been transferring as much out of the bank account as possible to the mortgage without hubby knowing, so far no complaints. However, does anyone else have this problem...... whenever i occasionally say to my husband, "There is now £x amount in the savings pot - isnt that brilliant?!" - he starts saying, "why dont we buy this, why dont we buy that with the savings pot money?" GRRRRRR. I dont think so matey! Best keep my mouth shut in future. I am going to lie about how much is in there..... He'll never know! xxxxx

my hubby is surprisingly very supportive of my mfw antics and thinks it's a great idea, he was a spendaholic but is now like me asking the questions do i need it or do i just want it and if i get it will i use it, of course the question is can he keep it going!! Ordered my morgage pig yesterday off ebay and just can't wait to fill it with loose change!! also got an automated standard response letter from barclays about reclaiming bank charges. it basically said hi thankyou for you blaa blaa blaa it's now a waiting game but at least i'm on the books as having made a claim;) also saved money yesterday by getting him a stainless steel wedding ring as replacement for the white gold one that he lost £100 which was his replacement for the original wedding ring that he lost specially designed foe £200.. we've only been married 2 years!! i told him to just replace it next time and not tell me so as not to add to my stress levels!!
I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:

Im with you on this. Hubby is really good with money which creates a problem. We both have individual mortgages because we both had our own houses when we met. If he thinks Ive got any spare money to pay towards the mortgage he complains of hardship in paying his bills and expects me to help. Dont mind helping if he needs it but it is always an exageration and he earns £6000 a year more than me. Quite good at hiding the cah now - its the only way ive got a chance of becoming MF. Hopefully one day we can do it together ...but for now please dont tell him!
