  • Thanks lifebegins

A little off topic but do you mind if I ask what bonus code you used for your first MB and with which bookmaker it was with? I'm looking at doing some MB over the next few days.
  • Glad to help DP: I signed up to Coral, (supposed to be best one to start with) but I didn't actually insert any codes, as I joined through Quidco and it gave a warning on the page that it wouldn't pay the £25 cashback if you inserted a different code from theirs.
So the "quidco" code already showing on the coral page was for a £10 free bet which you get once you've bet £10 of your own money. I think TallGirl, who's also just starting inserted a POST code for a free £25 bet but then didn't get the Quidco cashback. It might be worth seeing if rpoints would let you use this code and still give cashback.
I also joined Betfair (free £10 bet) but I think TallGirl might have a £25 code. I wasn't too worried for my first go. Good luck!

I'm hoping to add any profit to the monthly mortgage overpayments from my salary.
  • Thanks again.

I already had a Coral account but used the CHIP, NINE and NODEAL codes to turn £10 into £40+ tonight (still got some way to go on the NODEAL code so that should add another £20 to this total as well) - not bad for a night's work.

Found out that I can pay cash or cheques over the counter at the Halifax into my mortgage account - I've managed to pay 300.00 this month which is much more fulfilling than buying things I don't really need. Thanks to everyone for all the help and encouragement on this thread.
thanks for this quote hummingbird i'm with halifax too and did this today paying an extra £50 that was left in my current account (i get paid tomorrow):j last month before joining this site i would have just bought cd's and dvd's that would probably never have been watched and sat on my shelf doing nothing!
I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:

  • Hi all,

Can I please join in - better late than never!!!

Now hubby and I are finally debt free we have set our next challenge to pay off our mortgage asap. Having just moved house (cos of hubbys work) we are currently benefiting from a discounted rateand therefore we can only pay 10% (£11,900) extra off our mortgage for the first two years so this is going to be our target for 2008 and 2009 hopefully!.

We have already made one off overpayments of £600, £5000 and £200 in january and have just set up a direct debit each month for £200 additional payment starting from Feb so hopefully fingers crossed are well on our way!

Any ideas on how I can earn a bit of extra cash to help would be much appreciated (I am a stay at home mum of two (4 and 9 months old) and already do Ebay, Amazon, Mystery Shopping, Online Questionnares, Craft Fairs (as I make soap, cards & jewellery) to make a bit of cash. I have also just started working at lunchtime at my little girls school where I can take my little lad so this will earn me £20 per week (every little helps hey!).

Thanks again and good luck everyone.

I'm working on this as well. Took out a 90K mortgage in August '06, I have now got it down to 84K. I'd like to get it below 80K by the end of the year.

    Top tips:

    * Have tins of soup for lunch in work.
    * Have at least 3 days a week when you don't spend any money.
    * Buy everything except for groceries online instead of from "real" shops.

Wow and I mean WOW between us on this thread we have paid an extra £10,922.50 off our combined mortgages so far this month.

I think that is a great acheivement and well worthy of a round of applause for bellsbells for pulling us together. :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

Here's hoping that we can keep it going and deny the lenders all that extra interest.

welcome intheblack - congratulations on becoming debt free and well done on an amazing bit of overpaying in January:j I have added you to the list, but please could you PM me with the target you want for the year - is the £11,900 divided over the two years or can you pay off that much each year? Also if you can let me know your total for Jan that would be great.

    Once again welcome
