That sounds lovely Dolly.  We haven't had enough fruit this year to make jam but hopefully next year as homemade jam is the best.  Currently trying to get through a heap of courgettes, made a courgette, beetroot and feta tart for lunch which used up 1 courgette, only 9 more to go

Not had a great week - feeling quite stressed about work stuff.  Most of it is out of my control so just trying to focus on the bits that I can do something about.  Easier said than done though.

Also feeling quite stressed about money, seem to be spending heaps of money this month.  Food costs just seem to be going up and up and there's been some one-off expenses that I hadn't budgeted for.  The roof repairs are constantly on my mind as well and trying to think of ways to increase savings.

Got my payslip through and it's lower than usual due to not doing as much overtime last month so that's not helping my stressing.

I've obviously missed some transactions from ynab as my bank account is definitely lower than what it says I should have so I need to go through everything and update ynab properly.  Going to make a coffee and sit and do this just now, will hopefully help once I have a clearer idea of what we have left for the month.

Have done a few PA surveys this morning so just waiting for them to clear and I'll be able to cash out and add it to the mortgage overpayment account.  £1.64 has been added to it since my last post from ch@se cashback.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.9.25 - £105,664.31
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £16.08/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £800.96

    Thanks beanie

Went through my bank accounts and updated ynab.  Now have a better idea of where we are for the rest of the month but basically need to try and spend as little as possible or I'll need to transfer money out of savings which I really don't want to do.

£9.20 spent on food today including snacks for night shift and croissants for a fine breakfast tomorrow morning.

Remembered that I have some receipts in my purse to claim back from work, only around £30 but that will help the budget.

Sorry you are feeling so stressed.
I agree the rises in food prices is never ending. Its either a straightforward rise or this sneaky 'shrinkflation' thing where the headline price remains the same but the quantity/weight is less (that one REALLY makes me cross! -I saw Nescafe Original Coffee at a good price the other day, till I looked carefully and saw the weight was much reduced so the price per x grammes was much more than I paid last time)
Must seem at times that all your hard work over the years to get debt free and then progress to buying your home and starting on the mortgage free journey was a waste of effort BUT IT WASN'T, you did a great job  -  and continue to do so.

Keeping your eye on the ball, posting regularly to keep on track etc got you to this stage and WILL , in time, get you to the next stage. I have every faith in you :-)

Thanks Boodedoo  your support is much appreciated as always.  I do feel a bit better today, I think now that I've sorted out ynab and know where we are.

Had a really good night shift at work last night, was fairly quiet so managed to get various paperwork bits caught up which has also helped with the feeling better.

Had a snooze once I got home and went for a run when I got up.  I'm trying to get back into running regularly again as I find it really clears my head so have restarted c25k again.

Spends today were £4.90 - popped to the shop after my run to get a bottle of ale that was apparently essential to the stew OH planned to make and some rolls for lunches, got a loaf of bread and sandwich thins reduced to 10p each which have gone in the freezer for a later date.

Didn't end up having stew as by the time I got home, OH said he felt ropey and he looked awful so he spent the rest of the day dozing on and off on the sofa.  Fingers crossed it passes quick and doesn't get passed on to me.  I just made myself a bacon, mushroom and courgette omelette for tea which was lovely and used up half a courgette.

Did a few q mee surveys yesterday and got a nice surprise when I cashed out as I must gave cashed out PA at the start of the month but then not transferred the money to my bank account.  £11.05 now transferred to the mortgage overpayment fund.

Back on day shift tomorrow and it's a public holiday so double pay

  • It’s definitely worth checking PA in the day if you can. There’s been a lot on recently. So much so I cashed out near enough every day last week. £107!

That's an amazing amount ladysummerisle.  I don't often have time to check during the day unless I'm on a day off but I've checked this morning and managed to do a few before I go get ready for work.

£7.30 cashed out this morning and added to the mortgage overpayment account.

  • It’s the ai training ones so clicking which pic / video / audio you prefer. 5 dollars for 15 mins soon adds up, especially when you’re eyeing your bank balance and it’s still a week from pay day 😊

Ah yeah I've seen those ones but looks like you can only do them on a laptop which I don't have.

Nothing much to report from today - work was hard-going as we were short-staffed but survived and managed another run after work.

£1.37 spent on some fruit to go with work breakfasts.
