    Thanks Sarah

Haven't posted for a few days due to being busy at work and the allotment.  1st mortgage payment came out today so looking forward to it clearing in my account so I can update my signature.

£12.07 added to the overpayment account  (cashback)

Got the money back from the old energy company so £200 to savings (want to build up a decent emergency fund and also want to get someone out to look at the roof, seems ok so far but it's an old slate roof so want it checked over before winter), £50 mortgage overpayment and the rest to go towards a handheld cleaner to use on the stairs.

Finally got round to changing the address on my car insurance so I'll get a wee refund which I'll add to the overpayments account.

Oh and my new phone arrived - I love it!

As we all expected, all seems to be going to plan.
Everything in moderation OPs/savings/necessary spends/well deserved treats such as  the new phone.
A good spread and will get you there in the end.

    Thanks Boodedoo

Up at 3.45am this morning  think my body clock is out of sorts due to having to cover a night shift at work the other night.  I actually really enjoy night shift but not when it's last minute and I'd already worked a full shift that day.
However, have tried to use my time productively so have contacted some roofers through check@trade, completed some surveys and made a plan of action for work today.

Day off yesterday so we went down the beach for a walk and some breakfast (£22.75), went in past the allotment for an hour and then went to bee&mms (£59.85).  Got a shower caddy for the bathroom, some toiletries and various bits for the allotment.

We also bought a sofa  there's a sofa shop beside bee&mms that was having a half price sale so I suggested we go in for a wee look and ended up finding one that we both loved.  £604 spent including delivery which is way more than we had planned/budgeted but felt it was worth it.  Popped it on the credit card for now but will pay it off with savings/pay at the end of the month.  Delivery will be Tuesday and have arranged for a local charity to pick up the existing one on Monday.

Plan for today is work, tip run to drop off garden waste from the allotment and do a food shop.

Just catching up with your diary, sounds like you've done really well with spending consciously/carefully lately, including several low cost or NSDs - well done! Congratulations on your first mortgage OP too, that's a great feeling :)

    Thanks beanie and seventh88

Yesterday was a horrible day here so we didn't bother with the tip run as I didn't want to put wet bags in my car.  Went shopping in Lid! as we had some free items to pick up - £45.87 spent.  Got £8.80 worth of free items so going to move that amount over to the mortgage overpayments account.

A roofing firm got back to me so are going to come out to have a look tomorrow, fingers crossed there is nothing badly wrong with the roof.

Nothing much else to report - it will be a NSD as I'm a double shift at work

Surely if there was anything too dire, the survey would have picked it up.  Keep on chipping away, you’ve done it before, you can do it again.  Do you ever wonder how you would be overpaying the mortgage if you hadn’t had debt?

Thanks INOD - if I hadn't been in debt and found this site, it probably wouldn't even occurred to me that overpaying a mortgage was an option

Quote for the roof was £960 which was actually way less than I thought it would be.  Some tiles need replaced and the chimney needs repaired - both of which I was aware of through the home report, was just stressing that there would be something else wrong.  Not got a date for the work yet.

Not a massive amount to report since I last posted - budgets are generally looking good for this time of the month.  Some cashback added to the mortgage overpayments account so it's now sitting at £26.63.  Need to chase up the car insurance refund as it's been almost 2 weeks and no sign of it.  It's only around £33 but better in my pocket than theirs.  Cashed out £20 from 1poll so will add that to the mortgage overpayments account once it arrives.

Council tax bill arrived today so it will be £223 per month from 1st July to 1st February.

Off work for a good few days so looking forward to relaxing with OH.  Better get off to bed as I have an appointment tomorrow at 10am to get my eyebrows done.
