He was driving an m4 BMW in the wet.  The noise of the car and the way it looks could to be classed as aggressive.
How would the customer know where he works unless they were in the m4 too?
It had trade plates on as it is a stock car

Trade plates don't have telephone numbers or addresses on them.
indeed  ,  it;s  someone in the know   if  they have identified the employer by  the trade plates

I have asked him for years to speak to a doctor and get diagnosed with anxiety, panic attacks. And look into the possibility of adha/ autism but he refuses to go.  We have completed online tests and he does meet the criteria.     I cant force him to go.
hopefully this  process will be a wake-up call to him

It was a brand new unregistered BMW, so not rocket science to deduce it probably came from the only BMW dealer in town
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

    I agree.

It could also be someone "in the know" if there is a customer who ordered a BMW M4 in the same colour as the one seen driven by the OP's son, and the customer has been informed that car is in for PDI ahead of collection in a couple of days.  It could well be the worst possible scenario if that customer saw what they believe to be their brand new car and contacted the Dealership to complain they had just seen their car being "ragged".

I doubt even the largest BMW Dealerships have that many M4s going through the premises in a week.

A couple of things to bear in mind...

your son may genuinely think he was driving perfectly fine all day but that is just his perception - I have a stepson who was in a similar position when someone complained about his driving down a country lane and he insisted he was ok because the speed limit was 60. he couldn't understand how it could be dangerous if the law said it was ok to go at that speed.

the employer will have to ask themselves what the motive is for someone to make a complaint - no-one is going to go to the trouble unless 'something' had happened. An M4 BMW is a nice car but nothing anyone is going to get all jealous of etc and there are plenty of much better cars I see on the road every day so what could be the possible reason for someone making a complaint if nothing had happened?

Many, if not most cars, have dash cams now. I am not implying any guilt but it may not be a good idea to profess innocence if in the wrong when there may be footage that says otherwise.

Of course, he may be perfectly innocent and the complaint be malicious, in which case standing his ground, being polite and factual, and showing he understands why such an investigation has to take place will be his best bet - if he is then dismissed anyway then it would probably be better working for a decent employer next time. But he should do this on his own, if I were in the employers position there is absolutely zero chance I would let mummy or daddy sit there and put their oar in, after all, they weren't there either.

Sorry to hear, but I think there was only a very slim chance he would have kept his job
