I am still waiting for my meter to be updated for Octopus Go, switch completed early on 18th April.Chrysalis said:The issue is Octopus say you cant switch to a smart tariff quickly after joining them. So its interesting you was able to overcome that.I tried to switch to Agile just now and it said I dont have a smart meter. So their slow systems are needing time to update.1 -
Chrysalis said:Interesting you was able to move to tracker so quickly after your move.I am seeing energy usage for yesterday, they either using data from the mini for historical consumption or they are now getting the data from the smart meter over the normal system.
I might try to initiate a switch to Agile as an existing customer move to see if its quicker.
Curious I have always seen E7 as quite poor compared to smart tariffs, @masonic do you mind sharing your E7 rates?I outlined the Flexible Octopus rates here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/81407180/#Comment_81407180Here are the rates for the current 12 month fix in my region:
Getting a guaranteed 12.75p before 8:30 am is pretty good. And given most of the rest of my usage is between 4-7pm, 28.6p is better than I'd get on Agile. The 7p per day saving on standing charges swings it for me.
Tracker doesn't require half hour readings, so might be the exception regarding data coming through. They can bill you on meter readings. For Agile, it won't let you switch until they have started receiving data, which in their words can take up to 2 weeks. I contacted them over social media yesterday and they just reiterated that to me and said everything looks ok with my switch (I am now on day 5).Chrysalis said:The issue is Octopus say you cant switch to a smart tariff quickly after joining them. It looks like I may have shot myself in the foot. My new 12 month fix contract is for single rate instead of E7. My second register has stopped advancing overnight. So after 4 days on Profile Class 2, I'm back on 1 it seems. Billing this should be interesting as I can't give a meter reading online (only 1 box) and still no smart readings coming through.masonic said:It turns out their 12 month E7 fix looks pretty favourable for me compared to Agile over the recent past. I have switched to it and perhaps I will stay in the short term. I wonder if I can persuade them to backdate it to my original start date? No harm in asking I suppose.2 -
I switched back twice last year, first time got Agile email to agree to T+C same day as switch back, second occasion day following switchback.Chrysalis said:The issue is Octopus say you cant switch to a smart tariff quickly after joining them. I'm surprised it hasn't been like that for us too. When I switched out from Octopus to Tomato, Tomato was able to show me data for the first few hours by 6 am on the day of my switch. Switching back the other way, Octopus is still unable to show me any data 5 days post-switch. It does make me wonder why. Seems silly when you can change suppliers in 3 days, the simple act of connecting to a meter point after the switch takes up to 14 days.bristolleedsfan said:

Was that switching back from a different supplier or switching between Octopus tariffs?bristolleedsfan said:

BLF has been moving between suppliers, based on previous discussion. Changing to Agile while already a customer is quicker than same day - it is backdated to the beginning of the day you apply in most cases.WBCPB said:

Thanks @masonic Those E7 rates arent bad actually, whenever I had checked in the past the day rate was much higher than SVR.I am back on Agile now, was an email in my inbox today to accept t&c, I accepted, said up to 48 hours wait but was instant, so currently paying 13p kWh.
If I remember I will ring Tuesday to get back on variable DD.1 -
I've just received a "You're now a customer" email from Octopus. I'm not sure what I was for the past few days (my online account showed my switch as being complete on the right day)
Maybe this is the prelude for them being able to access my data.Meanwhile, I've established that my Profile Class has been 1 all along and I'm told the system initially put me on an E7 tariff because my estimated annual consumption was broken down into peak and off-peak.2 -
If i click view my meter reading history, 17th is now fully populated, so DCC is definitely working as I didnt get the mini working until later in the day.So for me it was 3rd day I was offered switch, if I remember right I switched Thursday.. Yours I suspect is slower masonic as I already had gas?0
