Return to Octopus from Tomato
Options
Starting a separate thread to avoid clogging up the main Tomato Energy thread.
I decided to jump ship at the end of last week when the Provisional Order against Tomato was published by Ofgem.
My switch appears to have completed today, but with some oddities. I am now back on E7. I noticed this when taking a reading and saw that the T02 reading had advanced from where it was in my last photo. Boiled the kettle, and yes it is definitely changing. I'm not particularly bothered about this, as I'm planning to switch to Agile ASAP.
The rates in the app have now just updated to showing day and night instead of single rate, but if I try to submit a meter reading it only gives me one box. So that's strange.
As yet, no "Welcome to Octopus Energy" message on my IHD, but the Flexible Octopus off-peak rate is showing as the current unit rate.

My Home Mini is now working, I needed to reset it. It was unable to connect to my meter (green light) using the previously saved configuration.2

I done the same and left last month. I joined 23 December and had no bills from them. Then on 27 March they emailed 3 bills for payment the following week. Ive not had my final bill yet and hoping that takes 3 months so I can claim the guaranteed standards payment. Although whenever I have become entitled to one, the business closes down, GB Energy, Iresa Energy, Symbio and Neon Reef. This was my mum and dads former home which is empty so was a "test" to see how it went. I am glad to be away from them.1

You only need to wait 6 weeks for the final bill GSOP compensation, not 3 months. My decision to switch now was partly in the hope that I could get all of that sorted out before they go pop (if they do).Tomato now has data for me up to 21:30 yesterday and meter readings for yesterday and today, so I'm hoping they will be able to issue a final bill without too much trouble. If they can't manage to do that in 6 weeks, then another £40 is most welcome.1

I'm not particularly bothered about this, as I'm planning to switch to Agile ASAP.I've noticed in the past that Octopus do not tend to update the meter class when you move from E7 to a smart tariff, and of course they had the 'Go' tariff running as a 2-rate tariff for some customers for quite a while which caused issues when moving to Tracker, and yes, the same issue with one one meter reading required but two active registers. Not a big deal though, but keep an eye on meter readings if you ever end up on a tariff being billed using the monthly register readings as they got in a real mess with my father-in-laws account when moving from 'Go' to E7 and then Tracker.I guess the danger zone for you is going to be the opening reading when that is agreed with Tomato, but as long as you've got your readings for both registers it should be possible to sort it out eventually...

We have not come across any losing supplier who have retrieved meter reading for final day. ( Scottish Power gave me final bill based on Smart Reading taken at midnight leading up to final day I was with them)0 -

MWT said:That is an improvement then as they specifically cited the need to be configured as a single-rate meter as the root cause for the problems moving to Tracker last year...At some point last year, perhaps around September, they quietly moved me back to a dual rate profile while I was on Tracker and this led to them having to rebill the entire period I was on Tracker. I got two sets of daily consumption figures, one for each register. So it is now possible, but ugly.I ended up insisting they put me back on Profile 1.I am not intending to go back on Tracker again now it is much less competitive, so probably better off remaining on Profile 2 with explicit dual reads for the future.1

I started my switch back to Octopus yesterday. I like their Tracker tariff so I tend to hop back on that once the switch is done. I managed to get £80 out of Tomato messing up my switch and they still haven’t taken the direct debit that should have come out on Friday. Cba to deal with them.0
