  • As I've mentioned on other threads about warm air heating, I have that type of heating system and rate it very highly indeed. It's cheap to run, ultra reliable and warms the house up MUCH faster than bulky radiators which take up too much room space.

I would NEVER change from warm air to radiators. It would be a retrograde step and a total waste of several thousand pounds. Never trust anything that British Gas suggest.

can anyone recommend who would be able to to the conversion of warm air to radiators , got a guote from british gas for £7200 for the three bedrooms, bathroom, lounge, landing, dinning room ( 7 radiators) surely thats a bit much dont you think !!!!

My question is: Why would you want to switch from Warm Air? It is fast and efficient. I have had domestic warm air for over 20 years. Haven't had a breakdown yet. Hope you have done your research before you decide.

Just picking up on this thread now. Agree with everything you say. I've had Warm Air for the past 25 years. No trouble at all. Have difficulty getting the proper filters for it though. Any suggestions?

To the best of my knowledge, the only filter which my system has, is a metal gauze 'rack' just above the main unit and controls, downstairs. It filters incoming air before it's heated or blown around the house. The filter rack is simply pulled out, vacuumed/washed and put back. There's nothing to wear out as such, like paper filters in a vacuum cleaner. Neither does it remove as much dust as paper filters, but I'm not complaining.

What kind of filters does your warm air system have?

Another fan of warm air .

Why would anyone spend thousands to clutter house up with rads ( that might leak :D )

My only problem was with the dust!!! it happened when Buncefield blew up
Cleaned all the 'pipes' as well as blowing the side of the bath off :rotfl:

we 've got warm air heating too, but we're about to start an extension and we've been told it is almost impossible to extend the system, any ideas, I would keep the system if I can

Oh and our house was built in the 60's and ALL ducting appears to be asbestos

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
You would be best investing in Air Source heat pumps, warm air heating in the winter, cooling in the summer, cheaper to run than gas or electric heaters!!!!

  • Hi guys, was wondering if someone could help me, i have a Potterton Warm Air Multi Gas Boiler and the Fan motor has seized. I have had a friend round (who is a qualified CORGI plumber) but never worked on warm air sytems, the part that i need apparently is no longer made & it has been sugested that i replace the whole boiler (which i am not keen to do) The model is Potterton warm air multi gas 40/50b & the GC Number is 42/590/11 - your advise would be much appreciated and would anyone know the rough costing for replacing the boiler??

    Many thanks,

    Craig.

THe fan motor will be available from any where.

You need to find out the wattage etc, the corgi guy should be able to get you a motor from somewhere that sells motors.
