Just seen the new rates for Eastern region, they certainly don’t want you export during day rates.
SC down 2.4% import up 6.8% export c26%.

Anyone got experience on Intelligent Flux ? perhaps @Screwdriva .
I have run my figures for flux ytd and Apr-Jun (last year’s usage) not looking good.

Gulp - similar picture for the East Midlands. I'm going to have to re-think my strategy and/or investigate other tariffs. There's now a big difference between the night time import rate and day time export rate, meaning it's much better to fill the battery with solar energy than cheap rate night time energy. This will require a bit more thought in the shoulder months - how much to pre-fill the battery overnight to avoid the possibility of not having enough solar energy to fill it during the day. On the plus side, export rates for the peak period are increasing, but I suspect by not enough to offset the reduction in daytime export rates. After an easy year it's got complicated again - some spreadsheet work to be done, I think.....

I'm planning on swapping back to agile plus fixed export at 15p before the 1st April. Not impressed with the cut in day time export rate on flux.

I might do the same but haven't done the sums yet. If you do swap back, could you let me know how long it takes and how easy it proves? Thanks, Mike

Flux is officially dead for all but "budget" battery households, which won't be onboarded to Intelligent Flux anytime soon. All by design.

Every one of the households I have helped with Tesla or SolarEdge batteries are being onboarded to Intellgent Flux this week. No other tariff comes close to the return that IOF delivers from April to September.

There are teething issues with some (but not all) Tesla PW3 systems which Octopus is working to resolve.
    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

How are your Solaredge installations doing on IOF?  The only feedback on here was from someone two weeks ago ...
"I think I am taking one for the team as nothing is quite working as it should.  Currently it sees my imports as exports and vice versa, which confuses the home consumption figure and the proper control of the battery.  Octopus say they will refund the cost of this poor behaviour but they don't have a fix right now.  The pitfalls of a new integration."

And comments on the Facebook group are no more positive. I might try anyway once our meter's been replaced. Apart from anything else I have hardwired Modbus connection to the inverter so I'm pretty sure I could grab back control if it runs haywire.

Hi - some bold statements there, and although I can see that IOF is going to win hands down for a lot of customers (possibly the majority) I can also think of some notable exceptions. For example, if your battery is large in relation to your solar export and you have west facing panels you can benefit from much the same export rate on most days by manually configuring the battery. Also, you don't get the cheap overnight import rate with IOF which means that in the shoulder months you pay a lot more for your import which will swing the balance for many users. So I'd challenge your assumption about Flux being "officially" dead which I assume is a figure of speech and not to be taken literally? Or is there some official statement from Octopus on this?

I imagine @Screwdriva was using it as a figure of speech, but I would say it’s more like a chocolate teapot , the export day rate has been hammered yet again. c.f. Jan-mar 1.12 exp vs 1 imp Apr-jun 1.62 exp vs 1 imp equivalents, i.e. c50% extra export to repay . Yes the cheap overnight is useful if you can do the laundry/dishes then but it does mean a disturbed sleep often for mrs DCM.

The export peak is the same ratio vs import cheap so no gain there either.

The only downside to IOF is if you have a low solar input days , but I don’t know yet how it controls the charging , only been on it for 18 hours 😎

    Time will tell as usual.

EDIT: Of course export from solar is 23.017/23.017/30.69 vs 4.99/10.10/29.316 good til say mid October

Definitely a figure of speech. As I said, it still works for people with large batteries from brands which will not be onboarded by Octopus to IOF. Your example of West facing aspect only does work to some degree, though I suspect the dramatic reduction of non-peak daytime revenue will turn people away.

Not great for some of the households I am helping. There are loads of teething issues, even with Tesla (for which IOF applications have been paused). Homeowners experienced similar issues with GiveEnergy All in One batteries last year and I know that Octopus have a dedicated team working on it - I am sure they will work through these within weeks not months. For those who made it through onboarding, the tariff is currently unbeatable and in my humble view, worth the agro.
