Very mature of you to not purchase more art (and very decent to let the gallery owner know) and instead get to enjoy becoming reacquainted with the pieces you have.
Hooray for so called friend revealing themselves before it was over something even more important 🥂
Sorry it has happened though, and I hope the impact you mentioned isn't too much hassle to surmount, which you will obviously do brilliantly anyway4 -
It's great to hear that you are finally taking a stand against peoples expectations of you, family 'borrows' and 'friends' who think they are entitled. I'm proud of you. (((hugs))) XXXI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

People's sense of entitlement seems to be on the rise @doingitanyway. Well done for standing up to it! The cheek of it is unbelievable at times. Love Humdinger xx3

In other news the friend who was being manipulative has now said she will no longer do something she had committed to. This impacts me. They had said 'I completely understand if you would rather not.' When I said I would rather not, because of X and Y, they did not like, or, clearly, expect it. Everyone I've spoken to about it says the friend should not have asked to start with. I am ok with it as it reveals to me something about that person that I thought but had not articulated. Every day is a school day

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds the impact, in the grand scheme of things is not great. It is much more important to have the lightbulb moment
Thanks @Chrystal I am getting better in this respect and will continue to improve!
Thanks @Humdinger1 I really relate to people's sense of entitlement (entitlement even to ask) is something I see more often these days
Thanks @OpalGirl...it is true, that is not how real friends behave
So, I ignored a message from 'friend' yesterday and my first text of the day was asking if I got the last test sent. I answered the text and question and asked for some space. Cue another long text that I replied to with a thumbs up. The thing is, I feel lighter today. I had begun to dread the 'friends' texts and somehow feeling I had to explain myself. I am very pleased to be free of them and will not be contacting them again.
Today I had a catch up with a real friend. One who I have known for 15 years and who does not take advantage. This friend sometimes annoys me, as I must her, but she is kind and I trust her.
I had my yoga class and that was lovely.
I rushed back from yoga to cook a meal for a local friend who has helped me with settling into the area. I wanted to do something for her. She enjoys a roast, so I cooked one for us both. I used some YS lamb, air fried roast veggies and potatoes and used up some red cabbage. I cheated with Marksies yorkies for my guest as I knew they would be appreciated.
I made chicken burgers for my houseguest who is staying here. She will be back later.
I have felt quite relaxed today. Yoga helped but so does knowing I will not need to be in contact with 'friend' any longer.
Weather here is off-on rain. The sky looks very dark as I type

DIA, thank you for asking how I was , just haven't bothered updating my diary but will do soon. The next thing, what I have pasted above is exactly what has happened to me with a friend of some 40 years . I haven't heard from her since Jan this year and I no longer dread the phone dinging. This friend had made me feel drained with every text , I hope you feel better as I did.Has your latest guest left yet ?Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.3 -
Glad all is well @Sunshine_girl2...funny you and I have had a similar 'friend' experience!
My latest guest leaves on Friday. Then, I have a blissful break before the last paying guests of the yearIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I have 3 more days of my guest/lodger being here. I can't wait to get my home back. Sometimes (or all the time and I failed to notice) she is having 2 showers a day! So I will have to speak to her. I don't want to have conversations with other grownups about their showers....but as you know I am putting in boundaries, so a conversation will be had.
I am proud of myself for having 'guests' to ensure I clear debt and building savings...grown up behaviour...But will I do it next year? Not if I can help it..
I still feel lighter from not having texts ping from the 'friend'...
So, today the expensive (on sale, but still expensive)...clothes came. I am not 100% happy with them, so all are going back in the morning. I did not buy the painting and the clothes are going back! Yay me. Now I have a chance of the original goal: no debt and a 1k emergency fund by the end of summer
The handy man who is going to put the paintings up and do a few jobs will be coming in the morning to quote.
I cooked a beef stew and couscous today. Tomorrow my guest is eating out so I don't need to cook
Hope your week got off to a decent start
