Dia, i love a bit of smoked fish , I'm thinking now of fish pie or kedgeree! Taters, onions and cheese for pie, or Rice, curry powder and eggs for the kedgeree😋😋😋 enjoy your event!

Dare I say that if you have wine for your friends special birthday you don’t need both chocolates and flowers too. The wine with either flowers or chocolates is more than enough as a gift. 🥳

Thank you @Sunshine_girl2
Thanks @Skint_yet_Again I dip the fish on beaten egg, roll in seasoned buckwheat flour (I include dried onions, dried garlic and smoked paprika in the flour) Then fry, but this time I am trying them in the AF. Serving in a rolled buckwheat pancake with pickled gherkin and tomato sauce. All good food but feels like a naughty treat 😉
Thanks @Tresinia511 I will use half the fish for kedegree but I will be using quinoa instead of rice 😊
Thanks @beanilou for your timely intervention. I am being over generous and it isn't necessary! I will just buy the chocolates and as you say @in_need-of-direction I will upgrade the chocolates 😊
Right, must get ready to leave the house…

…trialling polenta instead of flour to create a crunchy outside for my giant giant fish fingers 😊
Nothing left of the food budget. I went pennies over, but I had those in my purse so ignoring that fact 😁

A group of us went out with a friend to celebrate her big birthday recently and one of the gang wanted us to club together and buy her a cake, flowers and wine. I reminded her that she probably wouldn’t want to be carting them about with her on a lunch/drinks out so we had some flowers delivered to her house and paid for her meal. She was more than happy.
I’m sure your friend will be delighted with your thoughtful gift.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
Also a card is very underrated, when people give or send me cards for my birthday or Christmas, it genuinely fills my heart with gladness to see them on the side for a week or two (or several), to know I've been thought of and someone bothered. Add a bottle of wine in and I'm overjoyed!
